Jodah of the Suns (high CMC spell tribal)

Commander / EDH Battlecruiser Burn Casual Control Ramp Spellslinger

This is a Jodah deck focusing on getting the maximum value from Jodah's ability to cheat out huge spell effects, while generally also trying to build around exploiting cards with large CMC when Jodah isn't around. To this effect, there are several cards with 'inflated' CMC that can be made cheaper or cycled for basic lands to fix our mana:

There are also several cards that benefit from large CMC spells, usually to deal direct damage to our opponents:

There's generally enough ramp that we can play the CMC 6+ spells by normal means without too much effort, but as the deck works the best with Jodah around, there's a fairly generous package of cards to try and protect him:

We also have some general protection that also covers major pieces like Mana Reflection/Omniscience:

If we do end up losing access to Jodah, we still have a few alternatives to cheat in our big spells:

To win, the deck will generally try to burn out opponents by cards like Vengeful Rebirth and Treacherous Terrain, especially by copying them with Swarm Intelligence/recurring them with All Suns' Dawn. However, the deck also has a lot of library manipulation/card draw to win with Approach of the Second Sun (see the combos below for example). Rise of the Dark Realms can also be an alternative wincon against opponents using lots of creatures.

Interactions/Combos:

Approach of the Second Sun + Dig Through Time, let's us cast Approach of the Second Sun and then immediately recover it as one of the cards found with Dig Through Time. Demonic Tutor can of course serve a similar function, and if there are enough targets on the board, Soulfire Eruption can also burn through the library to find Approach of the Second Sun again (just remember you need to cast it from your hand for it to win you the game). The full combo can easily be gotten with Conflux or Emergent Ultimatum.

Reshape the Earth/Tempt with Discovery + Lotus Cobra, both ramp spells allows us to get a lot of land into play in one go, triggering the cobra multiple times to potentially use Jodah's ability again in the same turn. A key land to almost always get with Reshape the Earth/Tempt with Discovery is the The World Tree, as we will usually hit the 6 lands in play threshold to activate the tree's mana fixing ability.

Sakura-Tribe Elder + Gift of Immortality = fetch a basic land per turn (including opponent's).

Bring to Light targets:

Painful Truths and Kaleidoscorch can both benefit from Jodah's ability to get bigger effects, i.e., draw 5 or burn for 5.

If you want a particular card with Emergent Ultimatum (i.e., Omniscience) you can pick up Demonic Tutor as one of the three cards to always at least get what you want into hand.

Blessed Respite is an amazing Swiss army knife of utility. It lets us reset our deck if a particular tutor target is in the graveyard, can be a fog to save ourselves or another player from an alpha strike, and shuts down graveyard manipulation/reanimation focused decks we might play against.
