This Edgar Markov Deck was made to embody and commemorate a brother of mine, whom I love dearly. His life is in an interesting one, and in my mind, I enjoy how the five colors can be used to describe the psychological profile of people. Namely, how Green is associated, but not limited to someone who values community, and blue can help represent someone who has struggles to make first moves but responds to situations better than initiating them. My brother, in my opinion, is Mardu. He is a private person, and I will let him in a sense remain somewhat anonymous. He has many talents that some would find distasteful and his cleverness, subtleness and capacity to manipulate are very strong. A person who, in a real sense, has a real shot at being powerful corporate figure. Like a Patrick Baitman or wolf of wall street character. However, he is more reserved and less petty. His pride is like that of an older man. It is in check, and he can go without credit if it furthers his aims and leaves his opponents vulnerable, but he likes flattery as much as the next bloke. I think his true self, a lot of people are afraid of, and they should be. But I care for him, and the Vampire seems to be the greatest expression of how I interpret his behavior and capacity to vanquish his problems. With charm, some eloquence, but with a tactical and brutal nature backing it all up that would make him a natural rogue, bard, or vampire aristocrat in a DnD game. I love you, little brother. I write this in part because I wanted to take this deck, like all expressions of love, very seriously. Often, we love the person or the habits we enjoy. However, I believe that real affection is loving the person as they are and disapproving what they do with those abilities. I choose the latter and embrace him here as a vampire ancient who's the goal is a victory for self, community, and has no shyness to unleashing a passion for his own purposes as needed but does not do so at first instance, which would be embodied. Discretion and proven methods are always his method of choice which is embodied in Orzhov. Moreover, his sense of community does exist, but it extends only to his elect and family, which, like a vampire coven, mimics each other well. His friendship with you is also like that of a person takes an interest. He cares about the community and it's needed, as does white and sometimes red. Notwithstanding, his black color identity is stronger than the other two. So in the end, as much as he would love you, and do much for you, he will not endanger himself, or sacrifice himself, unless it suits his long term purposes. Everyone and everything is disposable for his well being. It is not because he is wicked. His selfishness derives from a developed sense of self-preservation. He does what he knows guarantees survival and the incapacity to be overwhelmed by his life circumstances. The vampire would allow my brother everything he ever wanted. Maintained youth, rewards for selfish behavior and the ability to overwhelm the enemy with an arsenal that was not just force. Often, one of not just conventional stealth, but also of the subtle social stealth. For statecraft, politics, and pulling the strings of bureaucracy, and getting away with it, are something he treasures.
