MOAR LANDS pls :( playtesting this hurts.

30 lands is more than enough. I played this deck with my friends yesterday and found that with the card drawing ability after casting a historic spell, you might end up with a hand full of lands if you run too many. The mana curve is pretty low and a 2-land opening hand or even 1 is acceptable.

Absolutely love the decklist, I've been working on a cherri0s decklist of her and our lists are very similar even though mine is budgeted alot, what are your thoughts on cutting thran Dynamo for words of wind? I'll drop my list here if you would thank a look at it.

Ancestral statue seems cuttable since it's only good if you already have other good things going on like multiple cost reduction effects + jhoira or paradox + rocks + jhoira

I agree with you but I still need things to draw into a win con (finisher) after having infinte mana. First thing I could think of was staff of domination. But i thought i still need a back up plan, so I kept ancestral statue.

The Paradox Engine + Trading Post + Spine of Ish Sah is always fun if you want your friends to hate you.

As a fellow Izzet player, with my primary cEDH list being Locust God's Unbeatable Swarm!- I don't know if you have enough interaction...? I mean, when I had a Breya deck Breya Infinite Combo Winstuff, you can diddle yourself all day long, but unless you can stand toe to toe with T1 decks... whats the point? She had all the power in the world but without the interaction, it's too easy to get picked apart...

Additionally, my LG deck has a significant stax sub-theme to get me to the point where I can win, late game. If you wished to make some cuts, I'd wager Helm of Awakening, Jade amulet, Alhammarret's Archive (yo, I have a LG deck, if I coulda made this card work, I would have, just too low power for cEDH), Paradoxical Outcome (if you want to have a saving grace, look at Timetwister or one of the Time Spiral cards for more value) in the spirits of making room for more interaction and surviving to the late game!

Anywho! Good luck fellow Izzet paragon! I wish you luck!

Can you do the bomber man combo in these colors? If so why not Pyrite Spellbomb?

Hey sorry,

looking to build a version of this, have never played izzet and think this concept is fun and combo-ish (another strategy I haven't played). Can you explain the mana rock + words of wind combo? Break it down into real simple turns. Again, combos aren't my thing, and I just want to wrap my head around it. Love the deck, want to work up to it to combat my brother's Oona deck next christmas.

also Glimmervoid ?? Feel like odds are, between artifacts and artifact lands you could run it and not have to worry about sac-ing it.

To TheGooseManWells About the words of wind combo: Let's say you have Jhoira and a sol ring on board and you cast a mana crypt. And you can pay to replace the drawing effect by bouncing sol ring back. Then you cast sol ring again and bounce mana crypt back. I think now you get yhe idea, by doing so again and again you can bounce everything back to you opponents' hands.

And I don't think that I need Glimmervoid because it's too risky to run it. I actually don't need that many five-color lands. I've only got like 2 red cards in the decklist.

Cyclonic rift needs to be maindeck. It's the only way cEDH storm decks can really deal with stax

April 5, 2018 10:49 p.m.

markszncd says... #19

I've dropped cyclonic rift for winds of rebuke for 2 reasons. First, I have never overloaded cyclonic rift playing this deck. Second, I need things that bounces my own stuff. And moreover it is good against cards like vampiric tutor.

what about Paradoxical Outcome?

April 6, 2018 8:58 a.m.

markszncd says... #21

It's already in the decklist. One of the best cards in this deck.

April 6, 2018 9:39 a.m.

Thank you for the decklist and the explanation. Could you please explain why you play Alhammarret's Archive ? Is it a must have card in the deck ? Thanks !

April 7, 2018 1:05 a.m.

Sorry, I only read the gainlife effect. Too much tire I guess lol...

April 7, 2018 1:13 a.m.

markszncd says... #24

To PauperKingRick: Actually I've been considering letting go alhammarret's archive because cmc5 is really a bit heavy for this deck. It's super powerful once it's out though.

April 7, 2018 3:54 a.m.

I agree with you, the only time I had issue with the deck it was about the mana curve. Also, Cursed totem is a great tax against mana dork and other abilities which is good in my meta and probably with a lot of competitive meta (Animar,Thrasios,Derevi,Captain Sisay,Nath,etc...) Thanks again for the ideas !
