Sideboard

This is my current build of Modern Jeskai Control. I am testing for an SCG IQ in a couple weeks and will be updating as I test.

The deck plays well. Use Path to Exile, Lightning Bolt, Electrolyze, and Lightning Helix to remove early problem creatures. Maindeck Supreme Verdict on turn 4 is great to reset the board on all the creature decks in the meta.

Cryptic Command and Snapcaster Mage are the powerhouse of the deck and they don't need to be talked about much.

Logic Knot is the closest we can get to actual Counterspell in Modern and it works great with fetchlands and the cheap spells in the deck. You can often cast this on turn 2 to gain a lot of tempo. Mana Leak is also fine, but you should try to use it when you can because it turns into a dead card fast.

I run Opt over Serum Visions because I like the Instant speed. Most Jeskai Control lists run the Visions since it digs deeper but I like being able to cast Opt on the opponent's turn if I have extra mana open. I also hate the turn 1 Serum Visions because you usually don't know what you're up against and what you will need. I feel better casting Opt after the opponent's 1st/2nd turn to have more information.

Think Twice is a solid cantrip that lets you spend excess mana later in the game.

Keranos, God of Storms is a pet card of mine. I know he isn't optimal for this type of deck but he fills the role of Search for Azcanta  . He provides steady card draw and burn that helps to end the game.

Dovin Baan is my budget planeswalker instead of Ajani Vengeant. They both have similar abilities with Dovin able to draw a card instead of Bolt something.

Sphinx's Revelation is fantastic to stabilize. Casting this with X=3 is usually fine against aggro decks and anything above is gravy.

Torrential Gearhulk is a great impression of Cryptic Command + Snapcaster Mage but is a huge body that can close the game in a couple turns.

Lands are pretty self explanatory I think. I use Ghost Quarter instead of Field of Ruin because I don't have one and I think there's only room for one of these effects in the deck. Desolate Lighthouse is okay, I like being able to loot away dead cards in the late game to find answers, just remember to hold onto something to pitch. I sometimes think about dropping the Lighthouse for a colored land but I'm happy with it so far. Wandering Fumarole is the budget Celestial Colonnade. It dodges Bolt if needed and can still hit for 4 a turn if you have control of the game. It costs 1 less mana to activate which is a nice bonus and it can also attack under an opposing Ensaring Bridge and then switch to a 4/1 before damage.
