It's a Trap! ...Runeflare, that is.

Legacy Burn Competitive Control Creatureless UR (Izzet)

Czernobog

Sideboard

A slightly less conventional Izzet "draw-burn" strategy, in that it usually kills a player in one fell swoop. I built this with the goal of making an effective deck without using a single non-land permanent after a few friends challenged me by claiming that it couldn't be done. The only exception, Font of Mythos , this deck could manage without, but it helps speed up the game. Most of the cards are designed to stall the opponent early game and help me draw the cards I need. Once I have the Font out, I usually wait until the end of the player's draw step to cast Runeflare Trap + Vision Skeins , and duplicate it with something like Twincast. It's pretty effective, but the honestly the wins aren't all that satisfying unless I'm hanging onto my dear life and hoping to draw a Runeflare within the next turn.

I realize this deck would be Modern format if I replaced Arcane Denile with something like Remand, but that card's a bit too expensive. There's an "acquire board" but I'm throwing Remand in the sideboard to express my intention to add it to the deck someday...

There are some obvious weaknesses to this deck, the main one being that my opponent can get rid of the the only win condition with something like Quash on my Runeflare. It helps to sideboard in some cheap counterspells when playing against blue. Substitute the Lightning Bolts for Into the Roils when playing against decks that rely heavily on non-creature permanents.
