Ever More Combo? —Dec. 13, 2020

Thinking about Trade Routes and Lotus Cobra, because Lotus Cobra is a bit like the Hierophant, which is a somewhat handy combo card. It can't do everything she can, but it's not a bad snake, and increases my odds of finding an effect that adds mana for each land drop, which can be key. Also Arixmethes, because it's a 2 mana land mostly (also infinite green fwiw, which isn't that much in this deck tbh). Ley Weaver and Lore Weaver look like a really nice combo to add, likely if I can sneak out Rampaging Baloth for Field of the Dead, which is a pricey move, and one that can backfire as I can get the Baloth out with way less than 7 different lands, but for how often that comes up, I'm probably fine with the change. I never tutor the Baloth, and I might tutor the land in this deck if I've already got a full board. While Field isn't quite Baloth, the Weavers are a sick combo in a deck already running 2 untap enchantments, making a turn 4 or 5 win more plausible. Heck, the deck can end up with infinite mana, and another good outlet like the Weaver, even without the Aura combo, can win the game potentially, something Baloth generally needs infinite land fall for.

I think once the next stage of changes are done, this is probably not going to be very casual. TBH, I'm surprised how often you see decks that ultimately don't have enough wipes or removal to keep this deck down, and that aren't quite fast enough damage-wise to close things out. Maybe I'm under rating the deck, but I feel like usually needing 4 or 5 cards for a combo to work, even if you've got lots of duplication, is still hard to pull off with consistency when pieces can die, but the deck plays pretty well I find.

Edit: Must say, did not fully realize what how handy The Great Aurora could be able to power through almost any defensive set up, and allow me to win that same step, which sounds pretty decent. At the point when it's not just saving my ass, I'll have my board on the table (other than cards exiled, assuming Elixir of Immortality has stayed playable), and be able to reset it completely, while nobody else will have any permanents left out, just Emblems I guess, which I think I can probably manage to mill them through, or life loss them to death if I add Psychosis Crawler, because that is a pretty solid win con to dig for in this deck, and wins by a different (and hard to block) mechanism.
