I'm playing a pretty stock Death and Taxes List.

Continuing on from the past Saturday's Top 8 success, I managed to go 3-0-split in an eight man weekly.

Round 1 vs BR Reanimator. We know each other and he plays either this deck or GB Turbo Depths. I keep a hand with 2 Karakas and other decent cards. He gets a turn 1 Griselbrand which I promptly bounce. The game goes long and he almost gets there with a Chancellor of the Annex, but I find a Swords to Plowshares when I'm on 5 life. Game 2 he destroys me with discard and beats me to death with a Reanimated Flickerwisp. Game 3 I play a turn 1 Pithing Needle on Griselbrand and tax him out of the game. I find this matchup to be difficult but not unbeatable. I win 2-1, Record 1-0.

Round 2 vs Budget Big Red. It's his first Legacy tournament, I believe. I know what he's on and he remembers what I'm on just before we start. I'm on the play, put a Plains and an Aether Vial on the table and pass. He plays a turn 1 Trinisphere, which makes my Stoneforge Mystic sad. Turn 2 I Wasteland his Sol Land and he spends the next few turns just playing Mountains. When He finally does do something, He plays a Thunderbreak Regent and I swords it. He does manage to get a Chandra, Torch of Defiance onto the field. Mirran Crusader kills it. I play a Prelate on 4, he draws another Chandra, shows it to me and on to game 2. This time He plays a Blood Moon first, which is fine with Plains in hand. I manage to live the dream of a Germ with an equipped Batterskull, Sword of Fire and Ice, and a Jitte. He lives the dream by Fiery Confluencing all the equipment. I still grind out the game. I win 2-0, Record 2-0.

Round 3 vs Burn. He's usually on Stiflenought, but I saw what he was on earlier. Game 1 is really close. He has a turn 1 Grim Lavamancer. I eventually Swords it and he plays a second one. I'm on 1 life with him dead if I get to my next turn. He draws a Goblin Guide and swings. I block, he uses the dead Guide and a Fetchland as food to kill me with Lavamancer. I can't remember, but if my Karakas was untapped, I could have blocked, and bounced Thalia before damage went through. Game 2 and 3 were also close but I can't remember them very well. I believe Jitte won me both games. I win 2-1, Record 3-0.

Round 4 vs ANT. Again we know what each other is on. He offers the split and to just play for fun, which I gladly accept as he is extremely good at playing Storm. I keep a greedy one land hand and promptly lose. Game 2 I keep a hand with Mother of Runes and Port. I keep him off things for a bit but don't draw any other relevant cards and he makes land drops and Rain of Filth to kill me. I lose 0-2, Record 3-0-Split.
