This deck uses a commander of my own design. The queen of Vesuva is mentioned on the card Helm of the Host but she isn't given a name. I gave her a name and a shapeshifting ability befitting a queen: Illustrious, Queen of Vesuva enters the battlefield as a random legendary creature from across all of MtG's history.

Illustrious has no casting cost so she can't be cast. Instead, her ability is used to put her into play directly from the command zone at instant speed. If you don't like what you get, flicker her or sac her and get her back out.

The deck naturally features a Shapeshifter theme which works pretty well since there are plenty of commanders that care about creature type. This deck also uses Sovereign's Realm because, hey, it's already illegal. Let's go all the way! (This means that the Wastes start the game outside the deck.)
