I guess mill isn't the strongest archetype in Pioneer but a) it's fun to play and b) other players don't seem to expect it, so that's good enough for me.

The general idea is pretty straightforward: opponent's deck is their life total, try to hold them off with counterspells and removal until their library is gone, and ekeing out a few more turns with Crypt Incursion.

Fabled Passage and Field of Ruin are there to get some more life out of the Ruin Crab. I'm unsure about their inclusion, but they squeeze in some more mill where it otherwise might not be, and sniping nonbasics might be helpful.

I'm a little unsure about how to sideboard. Currently, I have:

I've played with this a couple of times. Won 2-1 against Gruul Collected Company and lost a close 1-2 against Orzhov Auras. Not much evidence yet but enough for me to feel it isn't a lost cause.

And no, I'm not really serious about Mirko. He's just kind of a mascot. May his abs bless this deck.

Updates Add

Found some cheaper-than-usual copies of Watery Grave so have upgraded the land base with shock lands. Will see if it helps - using Drowned Catacomb was working ok (plenty of basics to let them come in untapped), and I'm unsure if paying life is something this deck really wants to be doing.

Also moved Tasha's Hideous Laughter to the sideboard as the exile clause works against a bunch of other cards in the deck. Added more removal as well.
