Discard cards to make food. Discard triggers extra effects. Sacrifice food, creature deals damage to itself - siphon that damage to an opponent. "Food damage" at worst removes threats for cheap, at best can be siphoned directly to an opponent. Interaction with the graveyard is relevant for this deck, and yes, it is quite vulnerable to graveyard hate.
