The plan is to protect my own creatures using protection spells, so I have to have mana for that. Hence the 24 lands because I want to be able to cast 2 protection spells per turn if I have to.

Fabled Hero is strong on his own and can deal a lot of damage. Especially since he can't be blocked once protection is on it.

Phalanx Leader makes all other creatures in play stronger, so he's good to have as well. That being said he is not strong by himself. But he does get stronger himself too, so perhaps still ok to have.

Luminarch Aspirant Is relatively cheap and increases the army's power every turn. Can make itself stronger if need be, but ideally it would be pimping Fabled Hero.

Favored Hoplite Is strong on its own as well, as long as I can keep targeting it with spells.

Gideon Blackblade is strong on its own but can also buff other creatures in the army. But I might remove it for even more protection of the few creatures I do have.
