So, I've been playing a Sliver Hivelord voltron deck for almost a year now, it's time for a change. When I found Sisay I immediately started building a commander deck with her. But in my playgroup it would be just another aggro or voltron deck, and I couldn't afford a planeswalker deck. Looking here and there I found that Sisay could be a good political commander too, and it looked like it would be fun to play a group hug deck when everyone's else decks is focused on milling, sacrificing, spot removal, counterspell and other not funny things. Some rules I've been following when building this deck:

  • 1 Budget. It can have expensive cards, but the overall price has to be as little as possible. It's just for fun!
  • 2 Fun! I play because it is fun, and it's the same with the others.
  • 3 No infinite combos. I can accept if the combo needs lots of cards on the battlefield, since if you can do it, you must be rewarded for it. But 2 cards infinite combo? Nop.
  • 4 Some cards here, specialy the graveyard hate ones, are for my meta. Graveyard resources are getting heavy here lately.

I am just looking for fun and I'm not that good on deck building, any hint will be welcome. And if you see any language assassination here, sorry, lazy brazilian user =p

For the deck, the idea here is to stall your oponents, making them like you by rewarding them with drawing cards while cursing the ones who would still attack you even after the redirect attack cards. Political decks need you to know the cards you are playing, know the cards your oponents are playing, and with Sisay as commander you will realy need to know your entire deck. Early game just ramp, and try to play some of the redirect your oponents aggro cards, like Oath of Kaya , Dissipation Field , Edric, Spymaster of Trest , Giltspire Avenger or Orzhov Advokist .

Then you can start politics, offering benefits to your "friends". Each game will be different, if someone attacked you or something, cards like Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer , Xantcha, Sleeper Agent , Crown of Doom and Curse of Verbosity deal with them directly.

If someone can do something for you, or hurt you pretty bad, play some bargain cards like Humble Defector , Nin, the Pain Artist , Nullmage Advocate , Spurnmage Advocate , Infernal Offering , Virtus's Maneuver , Evolutionary Escalation and Benevolent Offering .

If no one interact with you directly, help everyone at the same time with Minds Aglow , Tempt with Discovery , Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis , Veteran Explorer and Victory Chimes and make everyone happy =D

At some time, someone will get stronger than the others, that's why cards like Crackling Doom , Despark and Mystifying Maze , Spurnmage Advocate , Mathas, Fiend Seeker or Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer are here.

Of course, if someone makes a very big move, there are some boardwipes here like the tutorable Child of Alara , Coercive Portal , Nevinyrral's Disk and Urza's Ruinous Blast . And for helping yourself dont forget to play Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero , have Primevals' Glorious Rebirth on your hand or, if you have the resources, Marchesa, the Black Rose + Oath of Ajani . I'm sure that Marchesa have better cards for comboing this way, but Oath of Ajani is really good with Sisay.

And if you want some caos, (specialy when your draw isn't helping much), just play Endless Whispers and tutor Zedruu the Greathearted . Zedruu is not that great here, as we dont have that much permanents for giving up control, but even just one more card per turn already helps.

Drawing is very important here, whenever you have the chance play something like Diviner Spirit , Plea for Power , Farsight Mask , Epiphany at the Drownyard , Growth Spiral . That makes Reliquary Tower a very good option for tutoring with Sylvan Scrying or Tempt with Discovery

As you may have seen, the deck is very mana and color intensive, so dont hesitate declaring X of Kamahl's Druidic Vow as high as possible, and take advantage that your oponents certainly will search for lands when casting Tempt with Discovery . And with Smothering Tithe , the X cost on Minds Aglow and Nin, the Pain Artist can be as high as you can get. But even that the adicional land that Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis provide, use this card with precaution because this card alone is better for your oponents than it is for yourself.

But, how do we win with this deck? Well, first of all, if we can get some fun, it doesn't matter much winning. That said, dont underestimate Sisay, Weatherlight Captain equiped with Blackblade Reforged or Conqueror's Flail , and dont forget Kaseto, Orochi Archmage . Debt to the Deathless can be very, very strong. Vampiric Link , Soul Link and Armadillo Cloak gives you an advantage, and in my meta, Grave Consequences makes serious damage (hello Muldrotha o/)
