Introduction Show

Hello all and welcome to my Omnath, Locus of Creation deck! I've known about him for a long time, even played against him in standard when he was legal (shudder at the thought) but I recently decided to build him because a random deck on Tappedout made him look fun. Also, in building him I was finally able to play with cards and combos that have been sitting in my binder waiting for the right deck.

Win Conditions Show

Combo

1) Oboro, Palace in the Clouds, Sakura-Tribe Scout, and Retreat to Coralhelm

This combo is first because it has many options to win, but it needs a fourth piece in order to so. Oboro taps for one {U} which you then use to bounce itself back into your hand. You then tap Sakura-Tribe Scout to put it back into play, which will trigger Retreat to Coralhelm to untap Sakura-Tribe Scout. This can create infinite landfall triggers to use by Avenger of Zendikar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Scute Swarm, Felidar Retreat, and Spitfire Lagac/Tunneling Geopede. Some of those cards need haste for the tokens to win the game which is why we have with Maelstrom Wanderer. You can also draw your entire library (or however many cards you need to win or find interaction) with Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait, Tatyova, Benthic Druid, and Omnath, Locus of the Roil assuming you have at least 8 lands. This can also creates infinite mana with Tireless Provisioner.

2) Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, Realm Razer, and Spitfire Lagac/Tunneling Geopede/Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle

This combo is fairly straight forward. Ashaya needs to be on the battlefield with one of the three damage cards. Note, Valakut will need to be "turned on" with at least 6 mountains on the battlefield or have Dryad of the Ilysian Grove and/or Prismatic Omen on the battlefield. Realm Razer will enter the battlefield and trigger to exile all lands. Since Ashaya turns all of your creatures into forests, Realm Razer will exile itself to its own trigger. When all of the lands (and your creatures) leave play Realm Razer will trigger to return all lands (and your creatures). When all of the lands enter the battlefield (ETB) that will trigger any/all of the damage cards. This obviously won't kill any opponents the first time, unless they are at a low health to start with, BUT this an infinite loop. Realm Razer will trigger again when he enters to continue damaging your opponents for the win.

Beat Face

Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, Zacama, Primal Calamity, and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild are beat sticks that can end the game by combat if needed. Mina and Denn, Wildborn can give trample to Ashaya as well. Not plan A, but an option nonetheless.

Avenger of Zendikar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and Scute Swarm are grouped together because...well, landfall triggers. These can definitely overtake the game if left unchecked. In a landfall deck, they can probably become overwhelming the turn they come out.

Interaction Show

Protection

Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, and Constant Mists are some staple protection cards in these colors, and all of commander. Constant Mists could be argued to get better value here since I play lands from the graveyard to keep it going.

Sylvan Safekeeper only protects creatures, but has a similar argument to Constant Mists. I can get the lands back fairly easy with this deck to ensure they stay protected.

Removal

Beast Within, Generous Gift, Krosan Grip, Swords to Plowshares, and Cyclonic Rift are staples in this category. They don't need too much explanation.

Notable Exclusions Show

Chromatic Lantern - Prismatic Omen and Dryad of the Ilysian Grove essentially do the same thing (but better) and they can combo with Valakut if need be.

Expedition Map - I tutor for enough lands already plus the amount of draw in the deck. I don't believe this is needed at the moment.

Titania, Protector of Argoth - She was tried in the first iteration but was somewhat underwhelming. Her tokens have helped to close out games but overall I usually didn't like to see her. I'm taking her out to see if I miss her.

knight of reliquary - Another land tutor that gets bigger. Another card that was just subpar. Yes, I do have the combo in here with Retreat to Coralhelm, but it wasn't enough to merit the spot.

Moraug, Fury of Akoum - Yes, it "should" be an auto-include, but I wanted to win a little differently with combo. I may still include him later, but I'm putting him here so people don't suggest him thinking that I'm oblivious.
