$1 Dollar Deck Building Restriction, very synergistic and tuned.

"Ach! Hans,run! It's the lhurgoyf!"

This is my attempt at crafting a reanimator where all cards have an edition that is less than one dollar. Note the commander is not restricted but I chose to go all in with Gyrus, Waker of Corpses where at the time of design she sits around $0.60.

Core shell of the deck:

Enter the battlefield triggers (21) Decided to go with mostly smaller CMC utility creatures with ETB effects, curves nicely. This keeps the deck running more smoothly and achievable with Gyrus versus the traditional optimal large scale fatties in the yard. The idea is to cast the critters first to great effect, sacrifice them, and abuse my yard with the reanimator package and Gyrus.

This build opened up EDH cards I would traditionally not use but have interesting interactions.

  1. Grimoire of the Dead
  2. Entreat the Dead
  3. Vigor Mortis
  4. Arguel's Blood Fast
  5. Second Harvest
  6. Demonlord Belzenlok
  7. Renata, Called to the Hunt
  8. Command the Dreadhorde.
  9. Diabolic Servitude.
  10. Gyrus, Waker of Corpses
  11. lhurgoyf (Honorable Mention, was cut from the team early)

Renanimator Package: Champion of Stray Souls,Nezumi Graverobber,Command the Dreadhorde,Diabolic Servitude,Twighlight's Call,Cleancrawler,Grimoire of the Dead, Gyrus, Waker of Corpses,Mimic Vat, Vigor Mortis,Ever After,Torrent of Souls, Zombify, Life//Death, Entreat the Dead and Makeshift Mannequin.

Punishment: Warstorm Surge, Flayer of the Hatebound, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, Syr and Konrad, the Grim.

Sac Outlets, Carrion Feeder, Woe Strider, and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. All to protect my investment.

Alt Win: Grumgully, the Generous or Rhythm of the Wild or Renata, Called to the Hunt + Murderous Redcap + Repeatable Sac Outlet (FCarrion Feeder, Woe Strider) to go infinate with Redcap damages all around.

and most interesting interaction: Second Harvest. Act as a Panharmonicon-lite if you will with the Gyrus's token generation (2X ETBs for my tokens).

As I was building I would find a card that seemed within range or just barely, enter in Scryfall and either rejoice or sadly place the card down. In all the deck building experience was certainly fun.

It was certainly interesting to find substitute cards versus the usual optimal picks.

Shockingly enough the deck plays nicely against traditional EDH decks and does not feel budget at all.
