A Golgari-themed Commander deck, led by the zombie elf himself, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. This deck was originally developed around the Golgari Duel Deck, as a counterpoint to my husband's Izzet-themed Commander deck. This is still a work in progress, so suggestions are welcome. The main goal is to build a decent deck (within budget) while maintaining the Golgari theme.

The deck's two main win conditions revolve around either hitting my opponents with large creatures, or causing them life-loss in alternate ways.

For large creatures, cards like Doomgape bring a big one to the field by itself (with lifegain thrown in), and the Scavenge mechanic, along with cards like Corpsejack Menace and Death's Presence allow for dropping +1/+1 counters on things to swell them up. Golgari Decoy allows the big guys to get through in a pinch, as does Korozda Guildmage.

For life loss, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is the primary element with his sac ability (which plays well with the creatures wearing counters when damage-prevention is in play). Deathrite Shaman, Golgari Rotwurm, Launch Party, and Piranha Marsh all provide some form of opponent life loss as well.

First GRN Swaps — Oct. 27, 2018

There are some number of GRN cards I'd like to swap into this deck, but here are the first three changes.

Severed Strands replacing Launch Party. While Severed Strands is only sorcery-speed, it costs half as much as Launch Party and nets me a little lifegain instead of opponent life-loss for what is otherwise the same effect.

Golgari Locket replacing Golgari Keyrune. While I wouldn't mind keeping up the theme of all the little artifact trinkets associated with the guild, I figured it was better to replace the Keyrune with the Locket rather than a different card. While Golgari Keyrune only gets me a sometimes-creature with deathtouch, Golgari Locket gets some late-game card draw for refilling my hand.

Undercity Uprising replacing Diabolic Revalation. Revelation is really only useful later in the game when there's mana to spare, while Uprising gives my creatures a way to dissuade blockers, in addition to a quick fight for removing an opponent's threat with one of my small, expendable things.

Cards I definitely want to get for this deck include Status / Statue and Find / Finality, as well as Vraska, Golgari Queen.
