The primer looks like it’s coming along nicely! I was wondering if you’d done much more with this deck since we worked on it. It’s still one of the coolest deck ideas I’ve seen in a while.

Hey goldlion, I love the unique direction you took this deck in. Here are a few cards that may help you out:

Aven Mindcensor -> 10 damage to look at top 4 ;P. Also really shuts downs tutors.

Path to Exile and Assassin's Trophy are both premiere removal in the format that have good synergy with Ob.

Field of Ruin Mandatory search clause. It can also be used for politicking against the Archenemy.

Thanks Abzkaban, I only get a little time here and there so I've been plugging away at it. I put the more competitive land package in here - I don't own the cards, but wanted to see how they played with this and aim for them eventually. I took at the lands matters side all together and most of the regular Ghave synergy stuff. I ended up pulling a Demonic Tutor in UMA and picked up a Natural Order , so setup is getting smoother.

I've played this a handful of times now and it's been awesome! Had an incredible turn 7 or 8 combo off with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed on the battlefield ( Protean Hulk !), and took everyone from 40 life down. I will say that Glacial Chasm is a definite all start that I've been able to easily grab if things are taking longer and I need to delay 3-4 more turns. I've also been really happy with Ghave commanding this deck as he can produce so much value to setup for a big turn, creating sarolings to sac to alters for the next turn, or to be sacrificed to Skullclamp and Fecundity or Dark Prophecy to get me the cards I need. The flickers and recursions have all done their jobs with Avatar of Growth .

Gotta take a few cards out... working on that. I could also use 3 or so cheap card draw.

Super fun to play though. It always catches people off guard and is neat puzzle to sequence in working with what I've got, cause I always find I want to make it combo - get as many searches as I can with mana/spells enough left to protect me for another turn if I don't get everyone at once.

Omnes_Spiritus - thanks for the thoughts! We beat you to them though, they are in the deck :). Except, for some reason Path to Exile didn't make it into this updated version, so it wasn't all for not!

I love what you have going on here man! The hidden general is a neat touch and looks hilarious. Swords to plowshares is a great removal card to play and mana tithe can throw even the best players of +1 for me

Thanks drcatherwood. Swords is already on the list. I'll consider mana tithe, but I wonder what to take out for it, especially considering Ghave synergy?

I love this idea and list so much. I've always wanted to build it since I first saw it.

I have a few points I'd like to bring up:

• How does Recruiter of the Guard get Maralen of the Mornsong since the latter's Toughness is 3?
• Any thoughts on Opposition Agent? I feel like it's an auto-include. In fact, one might be able to make a new category Doom Google deck that is purely BG and forgo white (since Aven Mindcensor is no longer the only option for this this effect).

Recruiter of the Guard does not fetch Malaren. I think this was a mistake in the primer.

I think agent is an absolute auto-include for this type of deck, and you could go Golgari rather than Abzan if you wanted. However, I still feel three colors gives the strategy more flexibility.

Winds of Abandon is another search engine. Overloading it with Ob Nix out would almost certainly guarantee you the win.

Sig1L, you bet! Opposition Agent is definitely a must include, thanks for reminding me to update this. In the past I'd use Protean Hulk to grab Maralen of the Mornsong and Aven Mindcensor. Now Maralen's new boytoy is most definitely Agent. One that note, your totally right Abzkaban, it puts us one step closer to going Golgari effectively with this.

And thanks for pointing that out about Recruiter. Old me missed that and new me needs to update this!

Winds of Abandon is a wicked include! Nice, Abzkaban. Flicker effects or things like Second Sunrise are effective ways to get the etbs to finish things off. Also, Ghave's built in sac ability has played a strong role in games as well. I'm going to get back to playtesting this as Abzan a little more to see if it's worth keeping the extra color.
