I'm already cooking again, EternalBrewmaster, LTmiller and martonsmash. Help a brother out!

I kind of wanted to get an elf tribal thing going here, but it's starting to seem like the wrong direction. Is it still worth putting in some dorks in a deck like this?

So far, the only real direction I have is trying to push out Rashmi and enable as much flash/instant speed shenanigans as possible. I'd really like to play some of the classic big green beaters that were excluded from my other green deck for lack of Dune flavor, and I don't want to lean TOO heavily on counter magic. What else will give this deck some real gas?

Is Edric too dangerous if he's not extensively built around?

I'd love to take this deck in more of a landfall direction too, maybe some Avenger, Asuza, and Crucible on a Stick action?

VietMoneys have you tried seeing what the average build to her is here http://edhrec.com/commanders/rashmi-eternities-crafter?

Also, coming from the competitive community side, which is what I play with mostly. I'm listing the "respected" top tier Rashmi list below.

My my, that pie chart looks a lot more blue than mine...

You spelled "competitive" wrong. lol.

All kidding aside, this deck is incredibly fun to pilot and has triggers and all kinds of stuff going at all points in time. The "be all, end all" decklist that I linked is pretty friggin' pricey but it is ridonkilus!

However, your friends will begin to hate your guts...

Your deck looks pretty solid for a semi-casual environment. I would definitely try to add some of the High Tide package to it though as those are some of 's greatest strengths in EDH. This also just depends on what your play group is. If it's a bunch of fuckers that get REALLY salty and say is broken in EDH everytime they get beat by anything with in it, then completely disreguard that. If you have a few skilled players that don't mind learning from their own mistakes then go for it. It will make you a better player. Get online and go fish with Ad Nau Doomsday Zur a few times. It has honestly just made me a better player overall, because of the difficulty of piloting the deck.

I will! That's an infamous deck, even in my more casual circles. Do you have a list you'd recommend?

The thing I'm really trying to get a grasp on here is how valuable the creature ramp strategy is with Rashmi's ability. There's a whole package here of Seedborne Muse, Paradox Engine, and some indeterminate number of dorks that I can't really judge because I've never played with it. It seems useful given the utility of playing on other people's turns with Rashmi in play, but I just don't know how mand cards should be devoted to it.

The list I linked earlier has a pretty gnarly high tide package actually.

If you want you can double up on the Oboro effect with Ghost Town. That could easily help if you go the landfall route and find you're running out of lands to play. The other card I really like for Rashmi is Mind's Dilation. It's probably not necessary, but it practically doubles the chance of using Rashmi each turn (sometimes without spending any mana at all).

Hey PLaB, thanks for the advice! Never heard of Ghost Town; I may indeed have to add it if I can spare the spot for a colorless mana. I'm running out of room with all these damn off-color fetch shenanigans!

Mind's dilation is definitely sweet. I take it you could stack the triggers at will? Just don't want to exile too many lands with the landfall theme I've got going...

July 10, 2017 8:14 p.m.

If you have anything that goes off when your opponent casts spells then you definitely can stack those triggers how ever you want with Mind's Dilation, and you wont have to worry about exiling your lands with it because it steals the top card of your opponent's deck, not yours.

looks rad! +1 from me! sick mana base!

i'd agree that High Tide is a very potent card. it's also a very effective way to go infinite with Palinchron! same with Caged Sun and Extraplanar Lens + snow-covered lands. mid-late game shenanigans

another hilarious combo that you're almost running includes Sensei's Divining Top, Future Sight, then add in Helm of Awakening to draw out your entire deck :P

right now i'm prepping to add in infinite turns to my rashmi list. Time Warp, Temporal Manipulation and Time Stretch can go to grave; Eternal Witness, Archaeomancer, and Mnemonic Wall retrieve; then Deadeye Navigator, Progenitor Mimic, and Ghostly Flicker act as catalysts

after that it looks like low cmc control. Rewind is neat since you can leave open mana to Counterspell on another turn. most counterspells read "draw a card... counter target spell" assuming you don't hit something lower cmc.

that's what i love about rashmi. her raw power to chug along as you're just doing your thing: casting spells! if you do go the infinite mana route Thrasios, Triton Hero is a better candidate, but rashmi is less cliche. have fun with it! cheers!

VietMoneys says... #14

Thanks for all the fuel, greyninja! That Helm of Awakening combo is pretty classic. Took me a second to figure out, ha ha.

Yeah, Rewind was the first thing that jumped out from your list to me. Rashmi has been so interesting to build because of the departure from the normal assumption that lower CMC is always better. 4CMC counter that puts your Mana back up is an excellent drop on someone else's turn!

July 18, 2017 10:51 a.m.

Oops just realized you tagged me in this a while ago sorry. This is basically how I would build Rashmi too so I don't have any suggestions. You nailed everything I would have mentioned. Well done. Also, love the Lose Yourself reference.

Ha ha ha, good spot EternalBrewmaster. I like to imagine Dre and Shady working the boards inside that little hut of Alchemist's Refuge.

I think Soldevi Excavations would be pretty sweet in this deck! Works for my Tatyova deck.

VietMoneys says... #18

Hey KittenPetter An interesting card indeed. Vulnerable, though not much more than a bounce... Good with Crucible/Ramunap, and scry is definitely solid in this deck. I'm confused by the wording though. Almost makes it seem like it doesn't count as your land drop since the effect is replaced.

May 1, 2018 9:56 a.m.

KittenPetter says... #19

Soldevi Excavations, counts toward your land. Think of the Future Sight and Oracle of Mul Daya potential. Maybe even get a counterspell.

May 2, 2018 1:15 a.m.

VietMoneys says... #20

Oh, no doubt. Scry is rarely better than it is in this deck.

May 2, 2018 10:25 a.m.

Scry is better in Grenzo, Dungeon Warden. Fight me :P

May 2, 2018 11:53 a.m.

VietMoneys says... #22

No fair! Every card in that deck is a rare exception of some sort!

May 2, 2018 12:17 p.m.

VietMoneys says... #23

I've been thinking about this Excavations card some more, KittenPetter. I'm just worried about having only 10 (8 basic) islands. Could be a dead draw sometimes...

Rashmi no more, my friends. Onwards unto this new adventure.

See the Durdle of Enormous Girth, On his shell he holds the Earth. His thought is slow, but always kind. He holds us all within his mind.

On his back all vows are made; He sees the truth but mayn't aid. He loves the land and loves the sea, And even loves a childe like me.

August 16, 2019 11:33 a.m.

VietMoneys so one land that I immediately noticed that you're missing is Sanctum of Eternity. This is usually the first land I grab with Golos as it just feeds the lands strategy so heavily.
