Godo deck with the classic Helm of the Host, it uses the artifact-base and less rituals than the current standard builds.

Intro Show

Godo Metalcraft deck, using artifact based ramp rather than the rituals. The reasoning is that in case your Godo gets removed the first time the artifact-heavy version has a better board to restart. Also the meta is very relevant: if artifact-hate is too high, the ritual version is safer.

You all probably already know the basic combo:

• play Godo and fetch Helm of the Host
• equip helm, go to combat
• create a godo token, attack with it and trigger the new attack phase
• go to combat..
• ..forever

Underworld Breach (not maindeck) Show

I started this deck with the idea of running breach lines in Godo.. turned out it was just slow and in general a worst restart engine than the new Jeska's Will. Nonetheless here is an analysis of what you want to achieve while running breach.

Underworld Breach was described by the Lab Maniacs as: "lower floor, higher ceiling Yawgmoth's Will". Lower floor because you just can't expect to play it and flash back a tutor and an interaction early on in the game, but higher ceiling because it allows you to play the same cards over and over again.

How many LEDs are enough LED?

Well chief, this is a red deck and we like to count to 11, with a Lion's Eye Diamond (a.k.a. LED) in the graveyard we have 3 mana every 3 cards in the grave.

The basic example would be: 2 mana to cast Underworld Breach, cast 4 times LED from the grave and remove 12 other cards from the graveyard. I was tempted to go heavy draw-discard route to build that kind of grave but it's a poor idea because our first attack is already a solid punch, we need to focus on the followups.

Wheel of Fortune is a card

So the best way to rebuild after Godo gets handled is probably a Wheel of Fortune, refill your depleted hand and take it from there.

What happen if you can cast: Underworld Breach+Lion's Eye Diamond+Wheel of Fortune

• you discard your hand, draw 7 cards
• remove 3 cards from the graveyard, play LED
• crack LED for RRR
• remove 3 cards from the graveyard, play Wheel again

You need to you start with at least 6 cards in the grave after the first wheel, thereafter each iteration lets you choose 1 of the 7 cards that you discard from your freshly drawn hand.

Crafting the Graveyard

Since you start from 92 cards, let's say you will go for a fast win but get disrupted, then you'll have somewhere between 88 and 84 cards left in your library.

• 84/7 = 12

You should be able to execute the Wheel iteration about 12 times.

The baseline case scenario

Helm of the Host is already on your battlefield, so you only need to be able to cast Godo+Commander Tax and Equip cost. 6+2+5= 13 mana. Hopefully you will have 1 spare mana so you'll need only 12 from the LED activations.

• To play LED 4 times we already computed a need of 12 cards in the graveyard.
• You need to wheel 6 times to achieve this result, the first 5 iteration will add 1 card to your grave each
• The last iteration will add the whole 7 cards discarded, 5+7=12

Helm of the Host is in the grave

We need Goblin Welder to get it back! You may have the goblin in play or you may need to sculpt it into your graveyard. If you bring the goblin back you'll need Anger in your graveyard to give it haste, which is not a card I'd like to play.. so probably Daretti Scraper's savant is a better card to bring artifacts back form the graveyard.

• we still need 6+2 mana for the Commander and 5 Mana for the equip
• we need 4 mana and 3 additional cards in the grave to bring back Daretti, Scraper's Savant
• therefore in this scenario we need a total of 15 cards in the graveyard plus 5 other mana available from the board (which looks reasonable since we are re-starting)
• 15 cards in the graveyard corresponds to 8 wheel iterations (so 66% of our initial 84 cards library is in the grave)
• 18 cards in the graveyard corresponds to 11 wheel iterations (so ~92% of our initial 84 cards library is in the grave)

So the worst case scenario is that the Daretti is the last card in our library and we need to perform the last possible wheel. In any case we have just proven that when this loops begin, it can indeed cast Godo again.
