Deck Focus

Opening Hand

Your opening 7 should contain one or both of these elements:

  1. Protection/Mana Ramp

  2. Resource Denial

Example 1A: Ancient Tomb, Island, Sol Ring, Mox Diamond, Clock of Omens, Propaganda, Mana Web

Example 1B: City of Traitors, Mana Crypt, Ensnaring Bridge, Basalt Monolith, Unwinding Clock, Mox Opal, Coldsteel Heart

This deck can generate enough mana to assemble a strong combination of the synergistic pieces, combo pieces, or prison pieces at a very early point in the game.

Early Hard Lock

Example 2A: Eon Hub, Crystal Vein, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Mox Opal, Crucible of Worlds, Stasis

With this type of hand, you can stop your opponents dead in their tracks before they really get to do ANYTHING, while you start tapping your commander to gain significant card/board advantage.

Example 2B: City of Traitors, Mana Crypt, Static Orb, Sol Ring, Winter Orb, Sphere of Resistance, Clock of Omens

These examples are just a few of the ways to empty your hand by turn 2 or 3 and be way ahead in the game, lastly putting something like Ensnaring Bridge onto the field.

You mean there's an actual win condition aside from robbing the desire to play Magic from your opponents? Well, sure.

This is a pure lock deck: most of the room in the list is reserved for stax effects. The win con doesn't need to be anything huge. Even if you cant get any of these down, chances are your opponents wont have much in play themselves due to your plethora of tax effects.
