Gisela, the blade of babes

Commander / EDH RW (Boros)

Bring forth, the babes.

Hi guys and girls, thanks for checking out my deck this is the first deck that I made all by myself. So it is not in its final form, but it is getting there.

The main killing strat is bringing Gisela, Blade of Goldnight out and smashing people's faces in, which does happen a lot. It also has life gain synergy with Archangel of Thune and Lyra Dawnbringer, making all creatures you control get huge although this only procs with each life gain trigger so having many angels with life gain can make a big difference.

the first of the mass lifelink provider is, Lyra Dawnbringer giving all other angels +1/+1 and lifelink. Other mass lifelinkers are Angelic Skirmisher and True Conviction. Although if you can get Seraph Sanctuary and Archangel of Thune out at the same time with an angel generator such as Luminarch Ascension and or Resplendent Angel and in some respect Serra the Benevolent, pumping out angels giving them +1/+1 each time an angel joins the party gets out of control pretty fast. Additionally, with Soul Warden giving you 1 life every time a creature comes in to play there is a lot of synergies with life gain. Or you could use Mother of Runes or Giver of Runes , to protect your precious angels. In my opinion Mother of Runes is better because she can protect herself, but can't give protection from colourless. Either one will do nicely.

Now, card draw and ramp Boros infamously doesn't have a lot cards that gives you card draw and ramp but with some additions, we can help with that. So, first card draw I have added Sword of Fire and Ice to aid with giving us cards, now it is not a lot but it does help. I have also put in Heirloom Blade and Deathrender both a welcome sight to the deck. However, the pièce de résistance is. Stolen Strategy letting you cast a card from each of your opponent's decks. Now, this is not technically card draw but denying your opponents with some cards like Rhystic Study or Consecrated Sphinx and getting it yourself is amazing.

Let's move on to ramp, we need to be able to get enough lands or mana rock out to play Gisela, with a high cast cost of 7 CMC can be difficult, that is why i added both Solemn Simulacrum and Burnished Hart to get lands out quickly, and with Boros Signet, Coalition Relic and Smothering Tithe we can consistency get lands and mana rocks out to play whatever we need. Additionally, i have Urza's Incubator and Herald's Horn now they do not technically count as Ramp. They do decrease the cost of your angels, and with Herald of War we can make it so all angels cost nothing to play (apart from their coloured cost).

Now there is a cool interaction with a Boros staple, Sunforger and Mistveil Plains allowing you to use instant cards and putting them in the bottom of your library, and then using them again with Sunforger how many time that we need. And if we pair that with Tithe we can get all the lands we need.

Now you don't need Angel of Thune to build a strong and powerful army all you really need is Gisela, Blade of Goldnight doubling all dmg to your opponents (that also counts when your opponents attack one other) and halves all incoming dmg. Making you and creatures you control especially hard to kill, essentially giving all your angels double there starting toughness. And to make it a lot of fun if you have Aurelia, the Warleader and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight you can easily wipe one of your unlucky opponents of the face of the plane.

However, this deck has a couple of weaknesses.

First: is that angels are high CMC creatures meaning it can take a long time to build your board, luckily there are some cards that help with that Herald's Horn and Urza's Incubator. But having such high CMC creatures means that it falls hard to board wipes, this can be mitigated with Archangel Avacyn   playing her after someone board wipes saving everything. Also if you get Avacyn, Angel of Hope out that is it, unless you get Cyclonic Rift or mass exile you can go as wild as you want.

Second: is that the deck falls hard to control not being able to play angels is well the worst thing, but with Sunforger and a couple of swords ( Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of Light and Shadow ) helps protect the angels you have out. but with multiple opponents, it can be hard to have Gisela out for more than one turn, but that is the nature of EDH. now with having such powerful creatures in play creature stealing is very common with artifacts such as Avarice Totem together with Aminatou, the Fateshifter can be very difficult to deal with. That is there Homeward Path comes in, putting an end to the babe stealing.

That is all i can think of at the moment so if you have any suggestion i would love to hear it.
