Gideon Blackblade - Tax Collector

Oathbreaker Death and Taxes Mono-White Weenie

Zeddicuus

The overall strategy of the deck is actually pretty direct: To tax the opponents' resources to keep them from casting things as soon as they'd like and creatures that serve double-duty as removal to get rid of anything that is problematic for you.

I've been having issues with my playgroup turtling up and not interacting with the group. With this deck, I'm going to either force them to interact and/or punish them for continuing to turtle and make the game a 4 player solitaire. Deal with me or end up doing very little!

Tactics include:

Creatures that increase the cost of noncreature spells Creatures that cause permanents your opponents control to enter play tapped White Weenie battle tactics Sun Titan and Karmic Guide to bring back creatures from your graveyard Flying creatures to equip Strata Scythe to deal damage quick Attacking me will cost mana per creature Spot Removal of stuff I'm not liking on the table

As to why Gideon Blackblade as the OB: On my turn he's a 4/4 which is a nice creature to equip, and both of his abilities suit my needs. I can either remove something I don't like, or give something an extra ability like Indestructible to keep pressure on the opponents.

The signature spell should be obvious: I'll end up making it cost a lot, but making all my creatures indestructible can help avoid board wipes. Not necessary to the overall strategy, but utility can be key in this deck.

This deck is so budget it's not even funny. Remove the SoFaI and the Aether Vial and it's like $50 bucks to build.

Dismantled this deck and, quite frankly, never plan to rebuild it. While it was fun in to theory craft the deck and see if I could pull it over, I never considered whether I should build it.

Keeping the entire table that came to play magic from...well... playing magic was funny the first game, kinda amusing the second game and from there quickly lost traction for me to enjoy playing it. if I got the right cards, I was able to effectively shut the game down and that's just no fun.

So yeah, this deck is no more. I don't recommend playing it unless you're group loves playing that Stax'n'Tax style.
