Also why not Parallel Lives and/or Anointed Procession

Hey there!

Parallel Lives used to be in the deck but was cut for Illusionist's Bracers, which is basically just a second Doubling Season when attached to Ghave. It slotted into the same couple combos as Parallel Lives but also enabled infinites with Earthcraft and could go infinite with Phyrexian Altar, too (which Parallel Lives can't do; a fourth card is needed to increase the number of counters otherwise).

I basically dropped them because they weren't as flexible of combo pieces as I needed, as the deck can be pretty simplified down to Ghave + A source for additional counters or tokens + Earthcraft/Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar, but some of those counters and token sources have caveats and may not be able to infinite in 3 cards with all of the above (like Blade of the Bloodchief, which only works with Ashnod's Altar, not Phyrexian without a fourth card nor does it work with Earthcraft at all).

Vizier of Remedies is an idea, but it only works with 2 of my creatures so it's kind of narrow in use. I'll certainly keep it in mind (I forgot about it after Amonkhet released and while I don't have any, I do have Melira, Sylvok Outcast who does essentially the same thing).

I got a copy of Ghave from the Atraxa pre-con and I was wondering if you were to do a more budgeted version of this decklist, what would you do?

Actually, I have just the thing. A buddy of mine got a copy of Ghave for his less competitive playgroup and I came up with this list under $250 10 months ago: Ghave for Boscoe.

It's a smidge above that price point now but it's still a reasonable starting point for 1/10th the price (which, it's fairly close to what I started with back in 2013, honestly). You can do a fair token deck or an all-out combo deck depending on how much interaction you run into, and if you want to spend the cash later, you can easily upgrade the base of the deck by obtaining more tutors and the more expensive combo pieces (like Earthcraft).

Awesome, I'll get to building something similar to it then. I appreciate the response!

This deck is amazing. I’ve started the build and almost finished it minus the expensive cards. The amount of combos is ridiculous in this.
