Feather's Flickering Forces

Commander / EDH RW (Boros)

Roozsta

Maybeboard

This is my feather deck that I own and play IRL. I would describe it as token feather with a flicker subtheme, and voltron potential if necessary. This deck is built to control the board, build our own board state, and flicker creatures with powerful ETBs to ramp, control the board, and protect them. This deck does not follow the regular Feather Voltron path, but instead prefers to build and protect powerful board state while simultaneously preventing our opponents from doing the same.

Ramp and mana is very important for Feather because we must hold up open mana on our oppoent's turn to ensure that we can cast the cantrips that will prevent our opponents from killing our creatures. Creatures like Solemn Simulacrum, Knight of the White Orchid, and Dockside Extortionist help us accrue tons of mana while also hugely befitting from the flicker cards that give us multiple ETBs and protection for them (Dockside Extortionist is insane here). We also run many standard mana rocks here to help us get going quickly. The mana rocks that give us colored mana are very important because of how color intensive Feather and the cantrips are.
Controlling the board state can be disgustingly and almost laughably easy if you are set up with Feather. Cards like Fell the Mighty and Chandra's Ignition can clear the board, while Reckless Rage and Fall of the Hammer make for great single target removal. Other cards can help with more than just creatures, Duergar Hedge-Mage being a fantastic example because of how likely we are to control two mountains and/or two plains, and being an excellent example yet again of how the flicker package helps out here.
Building a board state can be fast and deadly with this deck. Our cards that generate tokens for us are the important pieces here, with Monastery Mentor, Young Pyromancer, Vanguard of Brimaz, and Akroan Crusader being our token pumping powerhouses. Monastery Mentor is particularly potent in this category, because with just a few cheap cantrips we can pump a few monks up to 4/4s or 5/5/s. Assemble the Legion is also a very nice token generator for our deck. Protecting and pumping our board state to take people out is assisted by a couple extremely powerful cards in this deck, namely Cathars' Crusade and Zada, Hedron Grinder. Cathars' Crusade can make our tokens big as they come out, and also has great synergy with the blink package in this deck. Zada, Hedron Grinder is worthy of MVP status once we have an established board state, allowing us to pump all of our creatures with a single buffing spell, protect our entire board from boardwipes, and drawing a silly amount of cards with one cantrip.
One card that would add power is Dualcaster Mage. This combos with Twinflame to make infinite attacking mages, but I chose not to add this combo to my deck.

Suggestions

Updates Add

-Swapped Boros Garrison for Sacred Foundry

-Swapped Wind-Scarred Craig for Sunbaked Canyon

-Swapped out Adamant Will for Fight as One. This is an interesting card from Ikoria. I considered not adding it, but it provides potentially twice the protection for half the cost, at a small loss of buffing power.
