This is a take on the recently spoiled Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose from M21. Sorry for the formatting. I've never written a primer before and I don't know how to format on TCG very well.

.

The core idea of this deck is to slowly drain our opponents (or have them kill themselves) while working toward Torment of Hailfire. The backup to this is Pestilence, which can be upgraded to Exsanguinate or Drain Life. I haven't included them because I don't own them.

To achieve a large enough mana count for the X spell, we have mana doublers like Crypt Ghast and Bubbling Muck. I don't own a Cabal Coffers, so I've added the Magus of the Coffers + Umbral Mantle combo for infinite black mana. I you do own a coffers, I suggest swapping a basic Swamp for it rather than removing the combo. If you're against infinite combos, you can swap the 2 cards for more ritual or mana spells; e.g., Nirkana Revenant and/or Culling the Weak. Another dangerous way of generating mana is to pay 3 life to make 1 black with Blood Celebrant + K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth .

.

The basic play of the deck is as follows:

Play ramp on your first 1-2 turns. You don't want to play your commander any later than turn 3. It is possible to cast him on turn 1. If he becomes too highly costed, we run a copy of Sanguine Bond as well.

Once he is cast, immediately play a spell that will cause him to start pinging. There are many includes, notably: Vicious Rumors, Diamond Mare, and Staff of the Death Magus.

Continue pinging, drawing cards, and defending yourself until you have a high enough mana count to cast your kill spell. Painful Quandary, Dictate of Erebos, and Blood Artist should do some heavy lifting for you.

When you are ready to win, cast Torment of Hailfire or activate Pestilence until your opponents are dead. Exsanguinate is likely the best card in this slot, and you can even run it alongside these two. You may also want to run Exquisite Blood to go infinite on turn 3+.

Since our average CMC is quite low, it shouldn't be necessary to run 35+ lands for our big burn spell, mostly due to the quantity of mana doublers. Once Vito is officially released, I can playtest this theory and adjust as necessary.

The cards in this decklist are ones that I have in my personal collection. If you are able to upgrade cards in the list for their best-in-slot counterparts, I suggest you do so (Diabolic Tutor for Demonic Tutor, etc.).

Good luck and please leave feedback! Assistance on better formatting would also be appreciated.

Additional cards to consider:

Ayara, First of Locthwain, Subversion, Consume Spirit, Foul-Tongue Shriek, Collective Brutality, Cling to Dust, Phyrexian Arena, Soldevi Adnate, Loxodon Warhammer
