Got a guy to leave a LGS with Boom//Bust off Etali's trigger. Sorry man.

  • Step one: "Haha guys I'm playing mono-red, what am I going to do?"
  • Step two: Cast Etali
  • Step three: Luck out and cast someone else's Kozilek on turn 4
  • Explorer's Scope has been a fun card and one of the few pieces in the topkek category that lets Etali sneak extra value out while attacking. It did it's job fairly well; If Etali would hit a land, instead he ramps us and then gets another shot at exiling something useful. The issue with Explorer's Scope is it requires that Etali be attacking with it equipped to get it's full value and at that point this becomes a real win-more card. Chaos Wand is one I'm curious about. It offers a form of card advantage and can utilize the both the MLD of this deck as well as the superior construction of other decks to net value. Gotta give it a shot at least.
  • In this mini update, I am dropping half of the remaining dragons in the deck. While I mourn the loss of a pet card, I can't think of a time this card has stolen artifacts for me. If it ever hits the field, it's immediately recognized by the players with 5 artifacts and is promptly killed. If it is in my hand, it's either a dead card or worse than my other options (I can think of a 6 CMC dino I'd rather be casting.) Swapping this guy out for Oblivion Sower acts to: 1) Lower the threat level of this flip; 2) Keep and guarantee the ramp that comes from this flip.
  • Finally, I guess it would be a little unfair to say I am cutting half of the dragons in this deck considering this is a one to one substitution. Balefire Dragon is being swapped out for War of the Spark's Ugin, the Ineffable. This really is a no-brainer. Balefire Dragon is a card I always pitch when it comes to that. I have never cast this off Etali, I have never attacked somebody with this and I have never cleared a board with this. Sad to say, Balefire Dragon is a 7 cost waste of space in the deck. Ugin, on the other hand, reduces the cost of around 1/3 of the deck, draws me cards and acts as removal. Nothing else needs to be said about this.
