-Overburden, +Compost
Compost has been on the maybeboard for a while, and after having played it in other decks its solid enough to include. Overburden is out because of its mediocrity :( There have been games where its been really great, but anytime it doesn't land early its mostly been a dud. Its been relatively easy for opponents to play around, and learning about the errata'd text saying "non-token" creatures really ruined its usefulness against specific matchups.
Smothering Tithe and Wilderness Reclamation didn't make the cut. They fill a purpose that Estrid already fulfills (breaking parity with Winter Orb, Stasis, Static Orb). Smothering Tithe probably would have made it if tokens weren't artifacts that get shut down by Null Rod and Stony Silence.

Have you tested Arcane Laboratory in addition to rule of law in this?

I haven't yet, but I think that's a meta call. I don't run it because I want to avoid awkward hands where I have both. But, I think if you're in a storm heavy metagame then it could be the right move to double down.

I chose Rule of Law over it as White mana means you can use excess Serra Sanctum mana to pay for it, and also lets you leave open Blue mana for a counterspell if you have it.

I've been playing a similar deck and I noticed that Overburden doesn't work with tokens.

If you're making infinite squirrels (presumably at the end step of another player) and have Overburden 1. Put a squirrel into play 2. Overburden triggers, hold priority 3. Untap enchanted squirrel nest land using 1st squirrel 4. Repeat

tldr: Holding priority on each Overburen triggers means you'll still be able to make infinite squirrels

No the oracle text of overburden is: Whenever a player puts a nontoken creature onto the battlefield, that player returns a land they control to its owner's hand.

Dude thanks for sharing that oracle text. I would not have guessed that it was errataed that way. Makes it less good against Najeela knowing that. A little less non-bo with squirrel nest though is nice.

What are your thoughts on Choke? Obviously it is a meta call, because it only affects islands and you might not play against enough blue to make it work, but what I am really asking is would it hurt you to much to run it in this decks current form? Also, thoughts on Hall of Gemstone. Does this shut you down too much?

I think Choke is too unreliable, and that's only because Estrid runs blue and getting the basic lands out is preferable. Otherwise I think it would be an easy include. If you're in a meta where folks are running lots of mono or 2 color blue decks it might be worth it.

Hall of Gemstones is great when you run lots of mana rocks or mono color stuff. In here though it increases the risk of not being able to cast Estrid. Like Choke I would only consider running it if I knew for sure it would really mess up my opponents.

Hey there,

I am homebrewing a version of this and I find running Teferi, Hero of Dominaria works really well and synergizes with some of the other combos you have here. He is 5 mana and another planeswalker, but his +1 gives both draw and untap 2 lands, his minus has targeted removal, and if you get his emblem basically every enchantress or other draw trigger will allow you to exile your opponents boardstate.

I think Teferi falls into the category of 'win more'. He's very good if you're already ahead (have some stax pieces out or have a wiped board), but for the most part is a card I wouldn't want to see. Estrid is already really difficult to get out as the game goes on. Jamming her out early gives her a chance to tick up without many creatures present. Drawing this guy mid game or flipping him with Estrid would feel pretty bad. He'd be a 5 mana Vindicate or Obsessive Search. Outside of creatures he's also blue, meaning he could eat a Pyroblast or Red Elemental Blast.

If I was to consider another plansewalker I'd probably run Elspeth, Knight-Errant as she's cheaper, can tick up to create chump blockers (or good blockers under humility), could function as a wincon, and have a more relevant ult.

Smothering Tithe seems insane in your deck. But I worry about the mana cost and tempo hit. How much room is there in the deck for a 4-CMC spell that doesn't do anything immediately?

So I've done some initial testing with Smothering Tithe & Wilderness Reclamation . Reclamation was just bad and win-more with Stasis/Winter Orb. Smothering Tithe I'm still testing but it feels swingy. Some games it allows easy recasting of Estrid and pays for Stasis , some games I just don't need the mana and it doesn't do anything, and sometimes it gets ruined or feels clunky because of Null Rod and Stony Silence .

I might consider testing a list removing Rod and Stony and including this and The Chain Veil . That would give it another purpose by powering out a normally very expensive Chain Veil and activation.

This deck seems sweet! But I don't understand why Seedborn Muse is not in the deck?

Thanks! Its been pretty fun to play.

Seedborn isn't in for a couple reasons. The deck doesn't run a lot of instant speed interaction, which greatly reduces Seedborn's usefullness. Her ability would only be helpful if I had Static Orb or Winter Orb out (She doesn't give untaps if stasis is out since opponents skip their untap steps as well).

5 mana is also a lot. So to make the cut it has to do something pretty darn good. The only other card with that cmc is Sphere of Safety.
