So let's talk about what an Essential deck is. This deck does not represent the best of aggro. There are far better decks out there that use aggro style play.

Rather the purpose of the deck is to associate an inexperienced player to the basic and multiple aggro styles of play.

I have been playing magic for about 15 years. When I was new I knew little to nothing about the game as a whole and playing against other, more experiences, players that fact became painfully obvious.

Obviously part of that problem can be associated with skill and knowledge of the game, mechanics, and rules. A larger part of that also was my deck building skills. Understanding synergies, deck styles, and interactions play a large part in deck performance. If you don't understand how a deck is supposed to be played, your odds of winning with it are lessened.

As I played more I wanted to win more so I looked to more competitive decks and deck types to try increasing my chance. However if I didn't educate myself on their play style properly then I was spending a lot of money to win fractionally more.

Over time I realized that the cost of a deck means little if you aren't playing it correctly. This became the most apparent at a LGS during a game day when I won the tournament with a homebrew Tribal Warriors deck in the final match against what was the most competitive deck in the standard format.

At this point I have been playing for a decade and I had learned many valuable lessons but not after spending thousands.

This eventually led me to today. I wanted to do something to help the newer players as they explored deeper into the idea of deck building. So I did it in the best way I knew how.

So I'm starting a series of what are "Essentials" decks. The purpose of these decks are to help a player interested in a type of deck, approach that type of deck in a more straightforward and affordable type of way.

I started off with the 3 very basic deck types. Aggro, Midrange, and Control. These decks will be 60 card decks with 15 card sideboards. They will float around the 20 dollar range (though fluctuating prices can change that). The decks will offer a way for players to learn that style while not breaking the back. Then they will have to chance to improve the deck they have or build a new one from scratch from what they learned while playing it.

Each deck will have information about the fundamental play style of the deck while teaching about different strategies that can be employed that are still within the decks overall style.

I will posting these decks and that information on a YouTube channel which I will link in each deck I post to this profile.
