About The Deck

Switched over to Ertai Resurrected as the commander over Lazav, Dimir Mastermind since he was just dead weight, and did nothing for the deck. Ertai allows for interaction when trying to combo off, and is just a higher utility commander for this deck.

Below you'll see the bread and butter of the deck, because at the end of the day you play to have fun and possibly win. The main strategy of this deck is to promote a fun play environment by not letting your opponents have as much fun as you're having. You just need to lure them in a little bit like a white panel van with a free candy sign on the side. Start by playing the team draw game, and countering some unfun commander cards like Sol Ring, Jeweled Lotus, Grim Monolith, Mox Diamond, Mana Crypt, or Mana Vault. Your goal is to accelerate to late game then go off before the aggressive player smashes your life total into the negative.

Everything You Need to Know to Win

Easiest Combo

Play one of the following pieces to remove your library from the game.

Demonic Consultation / Tainted Pact *f-etch*

One important piece to remember is you need fetch at least one Snow-Covered Island before playing Tainted Pact *f-etch* or it may fizzle before you get what you're looking for.

Follow up with one of the following pieces:

Thassa's Oracle / Jace, Wielder of Mysteries / Laboratory Maniac

Laboratory Maniac will require a way to draw a card if you go off with Leveler

The Wheeling

The value pieces:

Geth's Grimoire / Liliana's Caress / Psychic Corrosion / Sheoldred, the Apocalypse / Waste Not

Once you're ready to go off play Windfall, Dark Deal or activate Jace's Archivist followed up by another one of the aforementioned wheels.

You can also use Windfall or Dark Deal with Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant or flash them back with Snapcaster Mage or Jace, Telepath Unbound for the same results.

If you have Geth's Grimoire in play make sure you also have Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or Laboratory Maniac in play because you may draw your entire deck.

Incidental Combo

Mindcrank with Bloodchief Ascension or Duskmantle Guildmage can be a quick instant win, all you need to do is deal one point of damage or have someone put one card into their graveyard.

Mill

Mindcrank: Does nothing by itself, but plays well with Liliana's Caress or Sheoldred, the Apocalypse

Jace, Wielder of Mysteries: By far the weakest way to "Mill" an opponent, but can help finish a combo kill with Bloodchief Ascension

Psychic Corrosion: With extra draws and wheel effects it will be easy to mill your opponents

Memory Erosion: Really simple but nice card design that fits well into the deck

Duskmantle Guildmage: Has a pretty high activation cost, but can remove tutored to the top cards

Nephalia Drownyard: Same as Duskmantle Guildmage

Discard

Oppression: Like Memory Erosion the design is simple and fits well

Necrogen Mists: Consistent discard engine that helps gain value with pieces like Geth's Grimoire or Waste Not

Windfall/Dark Deal: Functionally similar cards with almost negligible differences, though if you are digging you'd rather have Windfall for the extra card

Jace's Archivist: Windfall with a body, but it can setup nicely with other wheels for more value

Torment of Hailfire: Fringe discard, but most people will choose to discard over losing their board

Hybrid

Chains of Mephistopheles: This card does everything this deck is trying to do, and it does it very well

Value Pieces

Geth's Grimoire: Card functions as a draw engine as you are making your opponents discard

Waste Not: Functions like Geth's Grimoire as a draw engine, but can also float mana and create bodies

Bloodchief Ascension: Once online this card can finish the game quickly even without Mindcrank in play, partners very nicely with Sheoldred, the Apocalypse

Library of Leng: Heavy utility card that prevents you from discarding combo pieces, and due to it being a replacement effect the card is not revealed to your opponents

Liliana's Caress: Pairs very well with discard engines like Chains of Mephistopheles, Necrogen Mists, and Oppression
