Edits Post-Theros —March 5, 2020

Many edits have been made since the first rendition of this deck. Smothering Tithe was included as you can play it early and gain great value off of it. Most mill cards like Ghoulcaller's Bell were removed due to their lack of synergy. Additional removal was added for matches where more control is necessary. Lastly, Underworld breach was added as a way to bring back lost cards.

For this deck to actually be cEDH, this list does need to include high-budget staple cards. Also, figure out a way to lower the average turn win from 5-6 to 3-4. Being unable to win consistently by turn 3-4 is too slow for cedh.

When only running 5 Creatures wouldnt the deck run much smoother just completely removing them as to never worry about elsha hitting a creature?

BloodPSTL, if you look at the 5 creatures that are there, 4 of them are keys pieces to the central combo. If you already have a reducer already, you kind mill them with things like Codex Shredder or draw them out of the way with a draw spell. As for Urza , I heavily debated taking him out. However, we he can insure that you have mana to continue to rip through the deck. In fact, a lack of Mana is usually what keeps the deck from digging, not running into creatures.

miracleHat, I understand that those cards are needed to make this a true cEDH deck. I've changed the deck's name to better reflect that. Also, the average turn that I could win would be reduced with those cards. Fast Mana, fetches, and cheaper counters would do all of that work. Thank you for the input!

Given the inclusion of Urza, Lord High Artificer as well as a win condition based around both Aetherflux Reservoir and Elsha's prowess triggers and the fact that you're running Dramatic Reversal , what's the reason for not including Isochron Scepter ? It seems rather strong here and it provides an alternate win condition which doesn't heavily lean on Sensei's Divining Top .

enpc, I have thought about including the Dramatic Scepter, but I have a few issues with it.

  1. The main wincon is Jace, Wielder of Mysteries . The other ones listed are backups.
  2. The Dramatic Scepter combo works well with Urza if you can reasonably get all three in hand. The only time you can get that is when you've pulled off the Top combo.
