Hello and welcome to my Eight and a Half Tails EDH deck and primer! This is my first time publishing a list on TappedOut and my first time writing a primer, so undoubtedly there will be some errors and I might take a while completing it. With all of that being said, please feel free to share your ideas, comment about what I did or did not include, and question/criticize my choices. All help is greatly appreciated! I also want to mention that this deck isn't meant to win fast or be "competitive", rather for the politicking and the crazy stacks and interactions that can happen.

So, onto the story of the deck. I've always loved Eight and a Half Tails; he has a place in my legacy D&T sideboard for the mirror match where he puts in WORK. I was watching an episode of SCG's Commander Versus when I saw one of the most unique decks I'd seen them play: a "Color Matters" deck helmed by Blind Seer. I loved how interactive the idea was and the politicking the deck was capable of. It just made sense to me that a similar idea could be pulled off in White somewhat successfully. The main and easiest wincons (since we're mono White without haymaker creatures) are Grindstone + Painter's Servant and Rest in Peace + Helm of Obediance. Another and more demoralizing interaction is Eight-and-a-Half-Tails + Ugin, the Spirit Dragon , using Eight's first ability to turn our enemies lands white and using Ugin's -X where X is 0 to blow them out.

This list isn't particularly geared to a hyper-competitive play group, but since it's mono White it's easy to tool and tweak for your meta. Need more graveyard hate? Add a Remorseful Cleric, Samurai of the Pale Curtain, or Morningtide (to name a few). Want to be more of a prison deck? Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, Archangel of Tithes, Sphere of Safety, Blazing Archon, Archon of Absolution, Baird, Steward of Argive, Crawlspace, and Magus of the Moat. Want to go even more all in on the color matters theme? Consider adding Isochron Scepter and cards like Apostle's Blessing. Stax, hatebears, weenie, stompy, superfriends, and pretty much every theme (other than spellslinger) can easily be slotted into this shell. That's the great thing about Eight-and-a-Half-Tails: it protects whatever you want your deck to revolve around.
