As tribes go, griffins in MtG are quite bad. As colors go, mono-White in MtG is not exactly the greatest. Two bad flavors that go great together? This is the deck. And yes, I did come here to play Pillar of Origins naming Griffins, and all the original cool griffins from Mirage/Visions (Daraja Griffin, Ekundu Griffin, Unyaro Griffin, Mtenda Griffin and Teremko Griffin). And yes, some Archons are griffins too, or at least riding them.

Griffins are not terribly threatening, so at least when you play Null Chamber, no opponent will name something like Spotted Griffin on it. The plan is to make griffins, stay cool, make attacking into the griffins seem not worth the trouble... and perhaps win with Approach of the Second Sun? Griffin beatdown can occasionally win games too, but they really do need all the boosts they can get (True Conviction). At least griffins fly. There's also the combo of making Griffin Canyon first a creature and then a Griffin to make it a really big griffin. It's a pretty convoluted plan (Mirror Entity+Planar Outburst+ the land) and will probably not work (or there's a blocker in the way).

Of course, the best plan is probably to add blue, so we'd get to play really owerpowered creatures like Senate Griffin and Steelgaze Griffin. And some actual card draw. However, there's currently no Azorius Griffin commanders available (NO, Morophon, the Boundless does not count).

Possible updates:

• Going full Snow is an option. Once we switch our nice Tempest Plains for Snow-Covered Plains, we can also go crazy with an angelized Mutavault or Faceless Haven, thanks to The Book of Exalted Deeds.

• Going Azorius is an option, if the right commander comes along. Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker is an option, as are the flying matters commanders (Inniaz, the Gale Force).
