Eat your Proteans [Tevesh - Thrasios cEDH]

Commander / EDH BUG (Sultai)

ObIviom

I really like Protean decks, And this was one that I felt was really accesible but not built? Anywho, this is a grindier Protean deck that can use Tevesh in the command zone to sac the hulk for card draw, we also have infinite mana combo with Isochron Scepter for easy win through Thrasios. We can dump and reanimate protean for Disciple of the Vault + Viscera Seer + Lesser Manticore combo for infinite dmg. Razaketh as a backup, we have plenty of recursion and even Riftsweeper to combo if we need to in the late game. This deck essentially trys to get to the late game and protect the protean combo with interaction, we can also power out early wins. We can also fall back on Witherbloom Apprentice + Chain of Smog. (10/08 removed Riftsweeper for Plunge into Darkness for testing, Riftsweeper may be a meta pick.

Through goldfishing and a few rounds of playtesting, it seems we can grind well, however, keeping a hand with no ramp is really hard on us, we want to be as mana greedy in the early turns as possible to stay relevant to the table. Sticking an early Tevesh or Thrasios isn't bad, and it feels really resilient to most stax, save for of course, Blood Moon. If someone removes a win con we can pivot to another, we have 3 main win cons, Thoracle, Chain of Smog, and Protean Hulk, and with infinite mana we can timetwister loop and do it as mana times as we want, or even retrieve all of our combo pieces from exile should that happen, and still win.

Currently testing a variant without the original Hulk line, instead we sub out that line for Spellseeker + Thassa's Oracle grabbing Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact, we can also Spellseeker + Witherbloom Apprentice + Sylvan Safekeeper grabbing Chain of Smog and using Safekeeper as protection for the Apprentice.

Cards that have been really difficult to play around: Blood Moon Opposition Agent Rest in Peace
