Niv-Mizzet is one of my favorite Magic: the Gathering spells. I made this deck, and built it around his combo with
Curiosity
.
How the combo works: When I enchant
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
with
Curiosity
, tapping him to draw a card will start a game winning combo: 1. Tap Niv-Mizzet to draw a card 2. Drawing a card allows me to do one damage to the opponent with Niv 3. Niv-Mizzet damaging an opponent triggers
Curiosity
, so I draw a card 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the opponent's life total is equal to 0
Hard casting
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
is too slow, so I use
Goryo's Vengeance
. Once I have
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind
in my graveyard, which I do with
Izzet Charm
,
Lightning Axe
, and
Faithless Looting
, if
Curiosity
and
Goryo's Vengeance
are in my hand, all I need is 3 mana to start the combo.
I'm running
Thoughtseize
, first, to slow down my opponents. Instead of just racing to get my combo out, I can choose when to combo.
Thoughtseize
also gives me the ability to get rid of responses to my combo.
I also have
Madcap Experiment
and
Platinum Emperion
as my backup combo. If I can't put together my Niv-Mizzet combo by turn 3, I can bring
Platinum Emperion
on the board to stall until I put my main combo together.
Platinum Emperion
can lock my opponent out of the game, but I'm not completely relying on him to do so.
If you have any suggestions to optimize my deck, I would love to hear them! Leave a comment and upvote if you find this deck as cool as I do!
