Doc's Budget Atraxa

Commander / EDH Counters GWUB

Drfman

A budget Atraxa deck that deck based around +1/+1 counters, it can easily be made cheaper by swapping out some lands and a few spells.

This is my version of an Atraxa deck. This is a variation that can holds its own in semi competitive play, without other players hating you for playing it. Don't get me wrong they will hate the deck for it being an Atraxa deck alone. This deck holds to no particular theme other than +1/+1 counters. It does use a couple of cards with charge counters, a few infect ones, and a planeswalker I added because I like her. The purpose of the deck is to make too many threats to be taken down easily. Either by having a lot of large creatures, or just a few with some nasty effects. Forcing players to wipe the board to deal with you, but you can come back pretty quickly. I've done my best to make the deck function well without Atraxa on the field, since she is an instant target.

Combos:

Atraxa, Praetors' Voice + Ring of Xathrid This lets you get counters on Atraxa cheap and continuously.

Grindclock + Vorel of the Hull Clade

Grindclock is a cheap artifact you can play early on and start adding charge counters to. Once you can double those counters though, things can get nasty very quickly. Within a few turns no else on the board will have a library left. Best of all you can trigger it at any time.

Sage of Hours + Any Aura

All you really need is one counter on sage of hours. From there double or proliferate until you have enough to take a few more turns.
