I've had the Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver precon for a while, and I just started upgrading it. To do that, I was doing a bit of research, watching videos, reaching articles, EDHRec, that sort of thing, and it felt like everyone in every video and article was suggesting I build essentially the same deck. Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar, Rooftop Storm + Acererak the Archlich, boom there's your unique deck that no one else has ever seen or made. In my Scryfall journeys, I found Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant (aka Disk Boi) and thought "hey he can make lots of Zombies too".

The rules I'm holding myself to:

1. No intentional infinite combos

2. To me, a true tribal deck only has creatures from that tribe. The Scarab God is fantastic, Gisa and Geralf do a lot for Zombies, but they themselves are not Zombies.

3. My commander is a walking board-wipe but I'm still trying to make this a fun deck to face.

As you're reading this, I'm still experimenting with the deck, I'm not even locked in on the commander or colours yet. We might go back to dimir, no one knows. I just put in an order for a few more cards that I didn't get in my last round of upgrades (the way I shop is the super inefficient wave after wave of "oh I think this might help", instead of playtesting before I buy cards).

But yeah, the idea is to make a bunch of Zombie tokens and pump them up with lords. Nevy is there in case I have a turn with lots of things dying, or if I need a board-wipe on a stick. Of course we have a bunch of Supernatural Stamina-type effects to make his wipes not hurt me (and I'll probably end up throwing more in, I always want access to cards like that). There is a bit of milling and a drop of reanimation, but I'm not necessarily looking to focus on the graveyard too much. That might change, I do love me a good graveyard deck.

This isn't tuned by any stretch of the imagination, but yeah here's where it's at so far. I think it's low on card draw, so I just bought a few low CMC draw spells, and I could probably use a few "target permanent gains Indestructible" effects. I'm looking at extra turn effects, I've got Ugin's Nexus on the way and I'm looking into more, because Nevy's Zombies come in tapped. Yeah, stay tuned if this project interests you.
