Help needed!

Trying to make a somewhat competitive Defender deck. I'm still struggling on how to make this deck a bit more resilient and less predictive. There's a couple of ways to get done what's needed.

Creatures

  • Dragon's Eye Sentry: In combination with Assault Formation this is basicly a 3/3 first strike for 1 mana. Seems a solid choice.

  • Fortified Rampart: Another 'simple' creature that is 'okay' in and of itself, but in combination with Assault Formation this is a 6/6 for .

  • Hornet Nest: A nice defender which creates flying deathtouch tokens if not killed. You can pump this guy up pretty well with Stalwart Shield-Bearers and Builder's Blessing to have a very solid attacker. If you opponent can get him down with combat damage, you'll have some nice flying deathtouch tokens to play around with later on.

  • Perimeter Captain: Gives us health when our creatures block.

  • Stalwart Shield-Bearers: Pumps up other Defenders. Remember that with Assault Formation, our creatures' Power is not important, its the Thoughness, since we'll be hitting with Toughness.

  • Wakestone Gargoyle: Another way to have our Defenders attack. If you have 3 or more creatures you want to attack with, its more mana-efficient to pay for this guys ability, then having to pay for every attacking creature. In the case all our Assault Formation's get destroyed, we can at least still atack with this guy and the Dragon's Eye Sentry's.

  • Wall of Omens: 2 mana for a 0/4 which will be 4/4 in combat (again, if you have Assault Formation on the table). Also allows us to get cards quicker

Enchantments

  • Assault Formation: Obvious one, it makes our creatures deal damage with their toughness instead of their power. It also enables you to attack with defenders at the cost of 1x per attacker.

  • Brave the Sands: This enables us to attack with Defenders each turn while also being able to defend with them. If you have some strong walls you can block 2 creatures with it.

  • Builder's Blessing: Especially in combination with Brave the Sands this is pretty solid. The only downside is the high mana cost and its possible overlap with Stalwart Shield-Bearers.

Instants

  • Heroic Intervention: Might save all your creatures from a board wipe or an overestimated attack attempt

  • Shape the Sands Can be used defensively, but also offensively since really everything that sais "+0/+x" means "+x/+x" with Assault Formation

  • Tower Defense: Basicly a Shape the Sands but for all your creatures instead of one. Imagine you attacking with a 1/3 Defender and two 0/4 Defenders (which will, in combat, be actually a 3/3 and two 4/4's) and giving them +0/+5 (which will, in combat be actually +5/+5)
