Deathtouch (ability): Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.

Deck :

An aggressive midrange deck that takes full advantage of deathtouch by using a synergistic mix of creatures, removal and the queen of death’s touch, Vraska, Swarm's Eminence .

Creatures with death’s touch:

Planeswalker:

  • Vraska, Swarm's Eminence : this card gives creatures with deathtouch an added layer of depth during your combat phase that favors an aggro strategy as it sets you up for the midgame via +1/+1 counter buffs.
When playing against deathtouch, an opponent needs to strategically play the game knowing whatever creatures they block with they will lose or trade 1:1. With this planeswalker on the battlefield, if they decide to leave an attacker unblocked, that creature gets a +1/+1 counter and thus becomes a bigger problem the next turn.

Finishers:

These aggressive mana efficient creatures have excellent evasive abilities that become more of a challenge when supplemented with your suite of removal and protection spells.

  • Spawn of Mayhem : a 4/4 with flying, trample and upside that can come out as early as turn 3 with Spectacle and be ready for combat on turn 4.
  • Questing Beast : having haste means you can have this 4/4 creature with deathtouch and vigilance attacking your opponent along side a Spawn of Mayhem on turn 4.

Removal:

  • Status / Statue : for , give creatures with trample ( Spawn of Mayhem , Voracious Hydra ) deathtouch to surprise your opponent with a devastating combat trick or spend to destroy target artifact, creature or enchantment.
  • Assassin's Trophy
  • Ram Through : this card becomes an incredibly efficient piece of removal when used with your creatures with deathtouch and trample.
  • Voracious Hydra : in addition to being a formidable creature that can get big and has trample, this versatile creature also serves as removal with its fight ability and can be used as early as turn 3 and keeps scaling up.

Protection:

On a budget? Replace Questing Beast with Storrev, Devkarin Lich .
