Going up against Goblins —June 28, 2015
Lost to Merdern Gerblins 1-2
Won game1: My deck was a little slow to start but his Goblin Guide kept giving be lands off the top so I picked up steam fast. He got stuck on 2 lands which also helped me out. A team of two Thunderbreak Regents finished this game up nicely
Lost game2: he came out fast and hard, a combination of Goblin Guide, Legion Loyalist, and Titan's Strength wrapped the game up nicely for him.
Lost game3: I managed to use removal to slow him down a little while I built my board. Had enough power to end the game on my next turn but I couldn't survive a top decked Spikeshot Elder + Titan's Strength .
Sideboard choices: pulling out 3x Magma Jet 1x Blood Moon for 2x Pyroclasm 2x Anger of the Gods (hadn't updated my sideboard as it's seen on tapped out yet).
Extra notes: Slumbering Dragon was really good in the early game, forced some hard choices and ultimately became the target for all Goblin Grenades played. I made a few bad plays, some harmless ones like blocking goblin tokens instead of Loyalists, and not as harmless ones like wasting a Pyroclasm on a single Guide. If I did it again I'd kept Magma Jet in as removal was key, probably side out Atarka's Command for Pyroclasm instead.
Deck Changes: Cards Removed: -1 Scourge of Valkas, -3 Dragonlord's Servant. Cards Added: +1 Slumbering Dragon, +1 Taurean Mauler, +2 Mutagenic Growth.

I've definitely thought about Sylvan Caryatid vs Dragonlord's Servant, there's plenty of other ramp alternatives too. I'm sure we all have plenty of cards to look forward to seeing from Origins and Battle for Zendikar as well.

Very nice, have you thought about Moonveil Dragon? A bit high CMC, but the mass firebreathing is fun.

Mutavault doesnt trigger Scourge of Valkas or Dragon Tempest per your description

Ah, no I had not thought about Moonveil Dragon! 6CMC is a little steep but I think I'll have to try it out.
True, Mutavault doesn't trigger the abilities itself but it increases the power of those abilities.
*Example: You have Dragon Tempest and Mutavault on the battlefield, you're about to play Slumbering Dragon. If you just play the Dragon you get 1 damage off Tempest but if you turn Mutavault into a creature before you play the Dragon you get 2 damage. Small difference but it's a nice little trick to have up your sleeve.
