Planning on playing first time commander with some friends - keeping it casual and not too pricey.

I chose a theme (Curses) and a commander (Daxos) and started building around these 2, trying to find a style that would suit me - in this case gradually draining opponent resources while building a defensive line made of enchantment-themed creatures and taxes.

As I have no experience and simply rely on my own judgement and that of my friends, am I missing out on some great cards - either in value, theme, synergy or fun? And have I musjudged some subjects that will backfire, even in my casual setting, like the lack of enchantment/artifact removal or instant-speed interaction?
