could add white to get the melira, Phyrexian Unlife combo

hmmm that is true, but I wouldn't want to splash White just for that, when the combo I'm doing now is for Black. I suppose that combo would work for a G/W deck, but it probably won't be Infect if that were the case. However, even if so, the opponent has more chances to get rid of the enchantment unlike the Zenith, which is a one chance only thing, and I'll make sure they get none.

Besides, I think this Zenith combo is a lot more funner then simply being invincible :p Good suggestion though!

There's the typical infect staples like Inkmoth Nexus and Phyrexian Crusader but I'm sure you've already thought of those.

Glistening Oil Would work as a mini-Black Sun, plus you can put it on Melira herself for one more infect creature.

I really like Putrefax . It's a good finisher if you're quick enough and it's a easy way to get a few counters on them to start proliferating if they mount an early defense.

Have you thought about the classic Overrun ? You might not always be able to Black Sun hard enough to clear everything.

Forgot to mention, Glistening Oil on opponent's creatures with Melira on the field becomes a black Muzzle . Per timestamp rules, it will have infect, yet no counters can be placed on you nor your creatures.

Oh wow, never even heard of that card! 'o' I like the hell out of it xD, and yes it would work perfectly with Melira. Though, what would you suggest to take out for them? Doom Blade s seem like the more safe option, having need only 1 Black mana as opposed to 2 and getting rid of their creatures instantly, but I do very much like the re-occurrence of the oil. Which would help stall longer, if only slightly slow as the duel is likely to finish before turn 10. Split 50/50?

The problem with Putrefax is the Zenith. They clash with each other, unlike Phyrexian Hydra . I could send out the Hydra first, then send out Zenith the next turn to obliterate, and I would only need to have the Hydra and another infect creature on the battlefield or a Mutagenic Growth in hand, then play card:Tezzeret's Gambit and call GG. Sure I could play Putrefax , but the opponent would have to be defenseless in order for it to be of any use. He's more suited towards an aggressive deck, which this is more semi-controlish. Flavor wise I definitely prefer Putrefax to the Hydra, but the Hydra just seems more useful here.

Overrun hasn't really crossed my mind. Though I wouldn't run Melira or have the combo with Zenith if I wanted to just trample anything. The job for creatures like Blight Mamba and the spell Withstand Death IS to weaken the opponents creatures so I WOULDN'T have to spend large amounts of mana. card:Tezzeret's Gambit adds to this strategy, and adding in Glistening Oil would further help my death bomb.

What do you think of adding Diabolic Tutor ?? He would help grab the Zenith OR Melira in case I don't have them in my hand. What would I sub out for him if I did add him? 1x Zenith? 1x Melira?? Something else?

I'm not liking Withstand Death . It's a neat card mechanically, but not really much more practical than card:Ranger's Guile or the classic Giant Growth . At best, you are trading one card for one card (stopping a kill spell) but at worst you are wasting a card to stop combat damage. At least the pump has more than one use.

I do like the Hydra, especially with Melira (can't be killed by damage). I was just tossing Putrefax out there.

I'd run a few Go for the Throat s in the sideboard if you are running Doomblades, just in case you run into a black deck. Nothing is worse that having 2-3 in hand and nothing to toss them at. Personally, I'd playtest some Grim Affliction s to see how well they work out. With the Black Suns and all the infect, you have the potential to do some damage.

Sidenote: there is a neat thing about Grim Affliction people tend to not notice. Since the counter and the proliferation are all part of one spell resolution, you can proliferate the -1/-1 counter on a creature with +1/+1 counters. They don't cancel out until the next person receives priority. (State based effects and all)

hmm I see. Withstand Death was more a way to keep my creatures alive while dishing out counters to make them weaker, but I can see Go for the Throat being a decent substitute in. If we're talking removal here...what about Victim of Night ? It's an instant, but it mainly kills none black oriented creatures so doesn't help the Blades downside :/ How about Tribute to Hunger for more lifegain to stall? It's slow but makes up for it, somewhat.

Would you still recommend the Glistening Oil ? Perhaps trade out 4x Withstands for 2x Oil, and 2x whatever removal spell mentioned above contributes more to me?

oh, Grim Affliction ? Another card I haven't heard of xD They seem kinda slow though and I'm running out on what to cut that isn't really important. They would have to fight with the oils if they are being considered. I either get the benefit of recurrence and possible removal, or the benefit of proliferating what's been done, once.

I mainly need early game buffs/removal to stop aggro decks from rushing me. Red decks also might be a BIG problem when creatures are not their priority.
