This is a new version of one of my older EDH decks, General Darien (EDH). I tried to make this version slightly more well rounded, taking out the spells that produce limited soldiers or just provide minor buffs in favor of stronger removal, more planeswalkers, and more creatures.

The primary goal is to have Darien, King of Kjeldor in play with a creature that provides life gain: Healer of the Pride, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, or Suture Priest. With this combination, any damage you take is negated, while still providing soldier tokens. Painful mana producers, such as City of Brass, Grand Coliseum , Nomad Stadium , Tarnished Citadel , and Mana Vault take advantage of this to provide extra tokens whenever they tap.

As far as removal goes, Oblation can get rid of most problems. Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares are the usual suspects in removing creatures. Catapult Master can rapidly clear out threats once you have a few tokens. Revoke Existence and Return to Dust take care of artifacts and enchantments. Hour of Reckoning, Martial Coup, and Mass Calcify are all board wipes that leave your field in tact.

The most obvious victory comes from Coat of Arms with any number of soldiers on the field. They will likely have vigilance, so even if they can't kill in one turn, you will shortly. Otherwise, simply keep building board advantage and applying pressure. If you can get ahead early with cards like Preeminent Captain and Brimaz, King of Oreskos, it can be very difficult for an opponent to come back.
