"When it comes to BUG good stuff, they're called staples for a reason." - Esteria

And it's kinda true. Unfortunately when it comes to magic decks, there is a trade of between originality and tried and tested value. I never want to be a net decker, the idea makes me shudder. But I also want to build a good deck. So I've reaced a crossroads. With my Damia deck, I have come to appreciate that she is going to be quite a generic goodstuff deck. Obviously there will be a spin on the deck to suit my meta and my play style, but the idea of not running a card just becasue it is a staple and I want something unique is going to have to take a second place.

So then, more changes (with reasons):

OUT

1) Reanimate - a really good card, however 9 times out of 10 my graveyard has been close to empty. And I still have Havengul Lich who doubles as a decent body.

2) Sylvan Scrying - Great mana fix, however not ramp.

3) Sage of Fables - Don't get me wrong, I love this card. it's full of flavour, the art is great and it combos horrifically well with Glen Elendra Archmage however it was usually underwhelming.

4) Plasm Capture - Great counterspell but it's just too slow.

5) Lich Lord of Unx - Although I love this card, since I only have 2 zombies natively in the deck this guy just felt like a dead drop.

6) Scavenging Ooze - Powerful card, but I don't really come up against a huge amount of reanimation, an I could very easily run Bojuka Bog instead.

7) Azami, Lady of Scrolls - Really good card draw, however I usually have 2 creatures o nthe field at any point in time. Not to mention she explodes so very easily.

IN

1) Oracle of Mul Daya - The amount of times i have been left with 3 lands in hand is annoyingly high.

2) Rings of Brighthearth - An interesting Choice for the deck, but I run enough activated abilities to make it worthwhile. Especially with sac lands.

3) Basalt Monolith - More ramp is good, and with the above gives me infinite mana (albeit colourless but with Oona, Queen of the Fae I'm not picky) alos, throw in Sensei's Divining Top and you can draw the entire deck too.

4) Mind Twist - A proactive approach to counterspells.

5) Leyline of Anticipation - Let me turn counterspell mana into board state mana.

6) Consecrated Sphinx - The mother of card draw. Not to mention it's a 4/6 with flying.

7) Peregrine Drake - Ok, so this guy is in the deck purely for the combo. In a lot of ways I actually prefer him to Palinchron too. he's less potent when stolen which is nice, so unless they are running the same combo, its a safer bet.

Also swapped out a Forest for Reliquary Tower

All in all worthwhile upgrades, now onto the testing phase!
