Maybeboard


  • Due to lockdowns I am only playing 1v1 EDH and Brawl rather than my normal Multiplayer EDH. So while both formats and number of opponents are vastly different, I wanted to challenge myself to create a list I can play in both with only having to + or - 40 cards.

  • An artifacts matter list where we want to generate oodles of mana to fuel a variety of value plays and win conditions.


  • Artifacts matter because I wanted to do something different than most Oona lists and she complements the "big mana" play-style really well with her activated ability.

  • Mana Rocks all shapes, sizes, and casting costs but I tried to choose ones who could also do something else/useful in a pinch Magnifying Glass.


  • Keep a hand with 1-2 mana rocks, a card advantage outlet like Riddlesmith, and slowly accrue value.

  • Ideally we have found a token maker Sai, Master Thopterist and artifact matters stuff Blinkmoth Urn while keeping ourselves out of our opponent’s crosshairs Propaganda.

  • Chances are we have 5-10 mana rocks, a mana sink Pestilence that we can use to begin to bend the game to our pace/will. Only cast Oona if you have 4+ mana open so we can get immediate value from her in case of removal.

  • Oona and a few of our artifact token makers Efficient Construction + Coat of Arms let us go wide and hit very hard. It is why I focused on a few creature token types.

  • Marionette Master + Cranial Plating + Clue or Treasure Tokens can be a quick GG with our board covered in artifacts. Skullclamp on Thopters works wonderfully too.

  • Dimir Keyrune / Deadeye Plunderers / Plague Myr + Cranial Plating can knock opponents out one by one.

  • Oona + Cranial Plating makes voltron (21 commander damager) viable too.

  • X spells or abilities like Erebos's Intervention / Mass Manipulation can swing the match back into our favor by stabilizing us either with life or a board of attackers/blockers. Mnemonic Betrayal can let us use our opponent's cards against them and Pestilence helps both clear the board and bring life-totals down each turn while we have a few ways to gain life to offset the damage.

  • Winter Orb / Death Cloud are staxxy pieces we break the parity of by focusing on mana rocks. Ideally we can set our opponents back far enough that we can close out the match before they recover.
