Could this be a more typical dragon deck?

Pioneer Aggro Casual Dragons Mono-Red Theme/Gimmick

TheRedGoat

Sideboard

Okay, so this was at one point a build I had floating around for basically block format/casual play. However, since the whole "Pioneer" thing doesn't seem to be going away, I felt it necessary to make the appropriate adjustments. Of which there were actually a lot.

For card explanation, honestly most of these are no brainers. Any turn 1-3 play, like Pilgrim's Eye or Dragonlord's Servant is preparation for the dragon blowout that should occur every turn thereafter. Most cards that aren't dragons are cards that are supportive of the dragons in some manner. This is why I run Tears of Valakut in the main board instead of sideboard, as initially I don't want any opposing flyers to block my view, and why I'm not running Sarkhan, Dragonspeaker, or some of his consituents, as I feel 60 card formats only need so much dragon support versus actual creatures. For the dragons themselves, they're all meant to be cheap and have the same power as their CMC (honestly this is just to satisfy my OCD).

Speaking of the dragons themselves, I am purely wanting to focus the build on getting dragons out and out fast. No clever cheating of dragons in, and no recurring them from graves. The trickiest I get is Descent of the Dragons being played when I've got my Dragon Tempest and a creature or two out. This is also why I'm running this as a mono red only build and am purposefully choosing not to splash other colors for the dragon clans. This is meant to be a quick and simple build that anybody should be able to adjust to their own preferences. This does mean that this is a less than optimal build as well, but no deck is perfect.

Now, to speak on the sideboard is marginally more complicated. The easiest to explain would be of course Tears of Valakut as I really do want to not deal with flyers and since reach isn't a usual thing in any format I don't care about planning for it. Basically treat this as the mirror match side in.

I should mention that Abrade may not cut it for some people, so you could go with By Force that comes in versus artifact decks. Release the Gremlins being the only other board wide artifact hate available it is easy enough to disregard the advantage of having gremlin tokens, but of course if you have ramp by all means release the hairless little critters and watch the artifice melt away. For those who may be puzzled as to why my own sideboard doesn't showcase this, I have seen enough artifact-centric builds to place my artifact hate mainboard.

Perpetual Timepiece it simply is there to help against any potential mill players that try to race you to the bottom of the library (I also find it funny that I could play Soul Sperarator and use their mill to my advantage), but of course if mill doesn't gain any ground in your meta then you can leave this out in your version. Note that if this is due to graveyard shenanigans then this card should be just as effective.

Speaking of, for Profane Memento and Magma Spray, I feel both need to come in versus any such delirium/delve/aftermath/etc match ups that I might fight against. The popular zombie decks are also bound to be flickering between the graveyard and the field so these can help slow those down too hopefully.

Speaking of what is basically aggro decks, if I'm facing a low to the ground build (like the zombies), then I'll just throw in Sweltering Suns or any other red board clearing card I can think of that matches up to it.

As for the remaining 4 cards, 2 Glorybringer and 2 Sorcerous Spyglass, it is obvious in my mind that they're there for Planeswalker archetype decks. No they won't deal with the "cat combo" on the opponent's turn (technically), but if it is ban worthy in Standard I doubt they'll let it be okay for other formats either. Also of note is the spyglass can be sided in against other strategies besides walkers. And I know the croc-dragon is pretty OP but I'm keeping him in my sideboard so long as this deck remains a casual build. I want fun, not high tier competitive.

Also good to note is that each of these cards all come in for Descent of the Dragons, Crucible of Fire, and then either Temur Battle Rage, or some copies of Tears of Valakut and/or Abrade, depending on the match.

Lastly, and I can't stress this enough, please do more than look at the build. Feedback is ALWAYS appreciated, even if it is fairly negative, at least that can show me what kind of looks the build is getting. But don't troll. Really try and give your game related thoughts on the deck and I will try to respond in kind. (additional disclaimer, this deck is untested as I am poor and/or cheap about investing into cardboard crack)
