Consult PST —June 21, 2019

Hello everyone,

I'm here with another update except this one is different from the previous ones. This one won't be changing any cards. Instead, I'd like to draw attention to a specific PST configuration with high current metagame relevance:

Consultation PST

This list belongs to ShaperSavant, who you recognize as one of the prime builders of PST (so he's really cool and stuff).

This PST includes the Laboratory Maniac + Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact combo. This combo has shown itself to be very strong and a consistent and concise win-condition in most all metas.

The current PST list in this primer isn't going to change to make it default. PST is meant to be a general case model that can be altered based on what is needed. However, this package has been shown to be so effective that as a first order perturbation, this is one of the first things to consider including should you decide to change your PST list for a given meta.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Your opponents will have full hands of their deck. They will lose after the second cast.

Yawg is just too broken not to play. On the combo turn you can use a hard outlet - like Winds of Rebuke - to win that turn as well.

Re: Journey; Journey is in the list (like Twister) to enable a win beyond Copy Artifact . But yes, as you said, the loop does work. The two combos in PST really like one another. (:

HaonDestiny01

New Narset is kinda cute with wheel effects and draw locking. But realistically most of the other WAR walkers are not playable/worthwhile in this shell. However, if you want to try a WAR walker, Narset is definitely the one to try.

PST is also a great me_irl peek into the life of someone who tries really hard to keep things in order in their brain but it doesn't work.

Deck's alright though.

AlwaysSleepy Okay so crap. Negate was still in the list. You know what? We're going to play Negate and Dovin's Veto . We're gonna cut Spell Pierce .

Lol you got rid of negate from the list, and put in spell pierce. I personally prefer negate, but spell pierce has it's uses too. Idk which you are actually trying to put in the list, but for clarification I'd assume you wanna fix that lol.

It's ok bro, we all got all sorts of shit going on. I keep telling siggy to fix his Urza deck, but he says there's 3 other people he has to talk to about it. lol we all fumble our decks in our brains as we remove/add things.

Either way, I just made the deck in paper finally (minus the proxy time twister). So I can start playing some webcam magic on PlayEDH/labmaniacs discord. Good list and love it.

Why do you run Yawgmoth's will? is it really that much better than something else? Could you run another sweeper instead? since we have both regrow and noxious revival that do similar things?

I feel like most of the time you just want 1 or to things back from your yard and then regrow does the trick. Even the windfall line after angels grace ad naus works with regrow instead of yawgwill as well?

The honest answer is YawgWill is obscenely broken and it's too singularly powerful to cut. It itself enables its own lines of play.

I'm on a bit of a budget and can get most of what I need for this deck for under $400. I was wondering, since you're playing duals AND shocks if the pain lands would be decent enough replacements for the duals that I don't have budget for?

Lacking the ability to be fetched may hurt, but I think they are a fine budget replacement overall. Pain lands were even in the deck at some earlier point/proto-lists, they are quite competent.

Hey Mr. Sleepy,

also got a question regarding a replacement for Timetwister in my Budget-List. I'm currently pondering about adding the new Echo of Eons together with Pull from Eternity for Twisterloops. First I just planed to replace it with Aven Mindcensor ...

I'm also missing the old Duals, Imperial Seal and Noble Hierarch and will be replacing them with Painlands, Muddle the Mixture and Llanowar Elves .

I would also like to hear your opinion about the new Force of Negation and why you chose to not add it to your Maybeboard...?

I think Memory's Journey is your best bet instead of the Echo of Eons / Pull from Eternity loop. Pull is fairly poor overall and Echo is almost uncastable - I'd advise to just run a single card outlet over a 2 card one.

Those are fine replacements.

Re: Force of Negation - added in maybeboard. I just forgot. It's a unique card and carves out a good niche but it's lack of offensive power hinders it. However it's in the right power level for cEDH and it's okay to run in more reactive lists.
