The decklist above is a prototype I'll be updating throughout the next weeks. This list isn't meant to be competitive, just a janky, casual deck that ends the game in funky ways. To create this deck, I've been looking for all combos I could find with Colfenor. Unless stated otherwise, all combos listed here require Colfenor to be on board. I've compiled and listed them here in the hope that someone finds them useful. Some of the combos are included in the decklist, but most of them are not. Feel free to experiment with them, talk to me, or leave comments/suggestions.

As a rule of thumb, cards in lists are ordered by their CMC.

Infinite Creature Recursion Show

• The core idea is that a creature can die with greater toughness than it's printed on itself. Colfenor, the Last Yew's ability gets back creatures with strictly less toughness (not the same toughness) than the creature dying. This means that, initially, no pair of creatures could get each other back, because they would either have the same toughness (in which case neither could get the other back), or different toughness (in which case only one of them could get the other and not vice versa). But there are some tricks around this that I'll now explain:

• X-cost creatures (Stonecoil Serpent) enter the battlefield with counters, but their base toughness is 0. This means that when they die, they check for creatures with toughness less than X (which can be big), but when they are in the graveyard they are checked having 0 toughness, so you can get them back with almost anything.

• ETB (Enter The Battlefield) effects. Creatures like Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig or Fertilid also have 0 base toughness , but enter the battlefield with greater toughness

• This interaction is the heart of most infinite combos you can pull out with Colfenor, the Last Yew. Down here I'll list the simplest card combinations (few cards needed, easiest to pull out), but cost-reduction and toughness-giving effects can enable thousands of variants. The requirements to pull out the combo are, in general terms:

• 1. A sacrifice outlet
• 1. Two creatures that can get each other back when they die. This means that, when any of them dies on the board, it must have greater toughness than the other has in the graveyard. This can be achieved through counters, anthem effects, Modular, etc.
• 1. The cycle must be mana-positive. This means that you must have either the same or more mana at the end of an iteration than at the start. This can be achieved through 0-cost creatures (Ornithopter, Memnite), cost-reducing effects; and through mana producing effects (Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar)
• 1. The cycle starts with a creature in graveyard and the other in play. It goes like this: sac A, get B to hand. Play B. Sac B, get A to hand. Play A. Repeat. Don't get fooled by the "be mana positive" point. Remember you must have mana to take all of the actions in the required order. Spending 3 mana to get 5 is mana positive, but is impossible to do if you don't have 3 mana to start.

• I will refer to the 3 first points as the 3 main parts of the combo from now on.

Infinite Mana Enabler Show

• (Endless One/Phyrexian Marauder/Shifting Wall/Stonecoil Serpent/Ugin's Conjurant/Clockwork Beetle/Arcbound Worker)+(Ashnod's Altar) Any pair of these creatures and the Altar will give you infinite colorless mana. Get A in your graveyard and B on board. Sac B, getting A back and 2 mana. Play A for x=1 and then sac it, leaving you with 3 mana and getting B back. Play B for x=1. Repeat, getting 2 mana for each cycle.

• Hangarback Walker+Ashnod's Altar This one's different. When dying, Walker leaves behind a thopter. Saccing the walker then the thopter will get the walker back and give you'll have 4 mana to cast it for x=1 and repeat, getting 2 mana for each cycle.

Death By Glamour Show

• Ichorclaw Myr+Necropede+Hand of the Praetors+Ashnod's Altar You can infinitely loop the Myr and the Necropede due to the extra toughness that Hand of the Praetors gives them. Repeating the loop will keep stacking poison on your opponents until they die.

Deforestation Show

• Wood Elves is already a powerful card (blocks, ramps), but if you aren't able to win (yet) through infinite recursion, you can loop them and get all your forests on board.

Teshar Combos Show

• Infinite Recursion: Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle+Ornithopter+Memnite+[any sac outlet]: With Teshar on board, play Memnite. Then, sac Memnite. Play Ornithopter. Teshar gets Memnite back on board. Sacrifice Memnite. Sacrifice Ornithopter. Colfenor gets Memnite back into your hand. Repeat. (get Ornithopter back with Teshar when playing Memnite)

• Ornithopter Infinite Recursion: Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle+Ornithopter+

Toughness-Giving Effects Show

• These cards can help you with the points 2 (creatures that get back each other) and 3 (being mana positive) of the combo.

• Our creatures having extra toughness has several effects that we can benefit from. The first and most obvious is that a creature dying with more toughness will be able to get more creatures back. In normal conditions, most creatures will only be able to get back creatures with less toughness. However, if you have an effect that boosts your creatures' toughness (Glorious Anthem), they'll be able to get back creatures with equal base toughness from the graveyard. If the effect gave your creatures not 1 but 2 toughness, they'd be able to get back creatures with 1 more base toughness, and so on.

• This has a huge impact in our game plan, because it makes the combo more consistent by relaxing the requirements. In normal circumstances, you'd need 2 X-cost creatures to pull it off. That is a very rigid requirement, and there are only a few creatures that can meet it. With a +1 effect, you can combo with any pair of creatures with equal base toughness. Now that's a lot more possibilities. With a +2 effect, you can combo with any pair of creatures whose base toughness difference is one or less. See what I mean?

• What appears here: passive effects that either give your creatures extra stats for being on board or put counters on them when they enter the battlefield.

• Color categories are not nested: a card will only appear in its broadest color identity. For example, Deathbringer Liege ONLY appears in Orzhov, not in white, and not in black. In the same sense, a card that affects "all creatures" won't appear in any color list.
