Sorcery (3)

Back in 2014, I was invited over to a friend's place to play MTG. I had been aware of the game for some time, but never bothered to play until that point. After being introduced to the game mechanics, I was instantly hooked on the idea of making thematically funny or weird decks. One of the decks I had built was focused around Maze's End. I liked alternate win-conditions so I did the good ol' fashioned "52 lands, 4 copies of Summer Bloom and 4 copies of Treasure Hunt." It was goofy and very poorly made. Pretty sure I only won while playing it due to my opponents wanting to see the deck function.

Now that I've been playing the game for 10 years, I found myself at an impasse. Building decks is tiresome. I felt like I have done everything already. It is also increasingly more difficult to build decks these days due to an overall price increase on buying singles. I have been theorycrafting some new deck ideas for a while but I decided it might be worth trying to take old ideas and using newer cards.

This deck is based entirely around "Gate" lands. We have a few options for winning the game. 1. Maze's End 2. Door to Nothingness 3. Beating the shit out our opponents with creatures.

We have some hurdles to do with. 1. We need to get more than one land out per turn. Joint Exploration and Summer Bloom help with this. 2. Gates entered tapped. Tiller Engine and Spelunking help with this. 3. Maze's End is a very specific card we need to access. Sylvan Scrying helps us find it.

The gameplan is to try mitigating being permanently one turn behind by putting up some blockers and hopefully allowing our lands to come in untapped. Then we try drawing more cards so we can get the pieces we need to win with any of the three options I listed above for win-cons. I know these past few sentences sound really dumb since I basically described how to win with any deck, but I digress.

Note: My decks are purposefully built for multiplayer, free-for-all in mind. I also usually make it a point to not include 4 copies of any spells to allow for a little more randomness in my games and to increase the card variety included in the deck.
