Jeskai Way

I play many decks in Competitive EDH and many of you know me for originally playing Kaalia. Right now this is my favorite deck & this very deck list is designed for going into **ANY META** blind. I WANT TO BUILD A SNOWMAN! Jeskai is all about RWU ya feel me? Enter Elsha!

Step 1: Cast Elsha of the Infinite.

Step 2: Look at your top card.

Step 3: Profit.
  1. It comes down to card quality. If you have infinite mana and access to your whole library, who cares if your win is pieced together from 5 cards? But when you are trying to play the game and avoid losing, wouldn’t you prefer if you didn’t draw Aetherflux Reservoir?

  2. The combos most friendly towards being made winconless are ones that involve infinite mana or draw, such as Smothering Tithe with an outlet in Timetwister Loops into a Rolling Earthquake.

  3. One of the most common culprits is Laboratory Maniac or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries in decks without Tainted Pact/Demonic Consultation. If you have to draw your entire deck to win with a card, chances are you can cobble together a win out of the cards you drew, rather than running a dedicated wincon.
  1. Winconless combos often require more cards, so there can be increased risk of losing access to something important.

  2. Most winconless lines are not shortcuttable, which means you will have to execute an obnoxious combo if somebody asks you to.

  3. Winconless combos can be more difficult to execute.
  1. Sensei's Divining Top Lines
Requirements: Elsha of the Infinite + Cloud Key or Etherium Sculptor. With these three pieces on the battlefield, tap Sensei's Divining Top to draw a card and put Sensei's on top of your library. Using Elsha of the Infinite 's ability to play cards from the top of your library, play Sensei's Divining Top for free due to the mana reducer lowering its cost to 0. Continue this loop to draw your library. Be sure to count your prowess triggers.

    Steps:
    • Cast Elsha of the infinite.
    • Cast Sensei's Divining Top.
    • Cast any mana reducer. The options in this deck are Cloud Key and Etherium Sculptor.
    • Activate Top by tapping it and drawing a card from the top of your library.
    • Cast Top for free from the top of your deck.
    • Repeat

Casting Top this many times stacks prowess triggers and storm counters. From this point you can make infinite mana and sink it all into Rolling Earthquake after you gain life from exiling your now big beefy general with Swords to Plowshares.

I drew my library with Top + Reducer! What do I do now?
The first step is to play all your mana positive rocks to evaluate how much resource you have. These lines do not include non-mandatory protection, it is always advised to cast silence first if resources allow it. This is not a comprehensive list of lines, just the more common ones. Nor is the sequencing optimal for every situation. Feel free to mix and match and experiment.

  2. Rolling Earthquake Line:
    A.) Rolling Earthquake + Underworld Breach (X1RR)
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast LED.
    • Crack LED for (WWW).
    • Escape Swords to Plowshares targeting Elsha exiling any 3 cards that aren't LED or Rolling Earthquake.
    • Escape LED exiling any 3 cards that aren't Rolling Earthquake.
    • Crack for (RRR).
    • Repeat the last 2 lines until you have enough mana to cast Rolling Earthquake for lethal.
    • Escape Rolling Earthquake for lethal.

    B.) Rolling Earthquake + Wheels (X2RR or U)
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast LED.
    • Crack LED for (WWW).
    • Escape LED exiling any 3 cards except Wheel of Fortune, Rolling Earthquake, Smothering Tithe, StP.
    • Crack LED for (RRR).
    • Escape Smothering Tithe exiling any 3 cards except LED, Wheel of Fortune, Rolling Earthquake, StP.
    • Escape LED exiling any 3 cards except Wheel of Fortune, Rolling Earthquake, StP.
    • Crack for (RRR).
    • Escape Swords to Plowshares Exiling any 3 cards except: Rolling Earthquake or Wheel of Fortune.
    • Escape Wheel of Fortune exiling any 3 cards except Rolling Earthquake.
    • Repeat the last line until you have enough mana to cast Rolling Earthquake for lethal.
    • Cast Rolling Earthquake for lethal.

    C.) Rolling Earthquake + Smothering Tithe + Twister (X4RWU)
    • Cast Smothering Tithe.
    • Cast Timetwister.
    • Redraw Library with Top + Reducer.
    • Repeat the last 2 lines until you have enough mana to cast Rolling Earthquake for lethal.
    • Cast Swords to Plowshares targeting Elsha.
    • Cast Rolling Earthquake for lethal.

  3. Underworld Breach Mill Line:
    A.) Underworld Breach + Smothering Tithe (4WU)
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast LED.
    • Crack LED for (UUU).
    • Escape Brain Freeze Exiling any 3 cards that aren't Wheel of Fortune or Smothering Tithe.
    • Escape LED Exiling any 3 cards that aren't Wheel of Fortune or Smothering Tithe.
    • Crack LED for (WWW).
    • Escape Smothering Tithe Exiling any 3 cards that isn't Brain Freeze, Wheel of Fortune or LED.
    • Escape LED Exiling any 3 cards that aren't Wheel of Fortune or Brain Freeze.
    • Escape Wheel of Fortune exiling any 3 cards.
    • Repeat the above line until lethal.

    B.) Underworld Breach + LED (1R)
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast LED.
    • Crack LED for (UUU).
    • Escape Brain Freeze Exiling any 3 cards that aren't Wheel of Fortune or LED.
    • Escape LED Exiling any 3 cards that aren't Wheel of Fortune.
    • Crack LED for (RRR).
    • Escape Wheel of Fortune Exiling any 3 cards that aren't LED.
    • Repeat about 3 steps until lethal.

    C.) Underworld Breach + Windfall (4RU)
    • Cast LED.
    • Cast Brain Freeze.
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast Windfall.
    • Crack LED for (UUU).
    • Escape Windfall Exiling any 3 Cards.

  4. Brain Freeze Line:
    A.) Brainfreeze + LED + Underworld Breach (1R & 3 other cards in GY/hand)
    • Cast Underworld Breach.
    • Cast Lion's Eye Diamond.
    • Crack for UUU.
    • Escape Brainfreeze exiling any 3 cards besides LED, targeting yourself with all 3.

You can repeat the above 3 steps as necessary until you can get the storm count high enough to mill out your opponents or assemble a different wincondition with breach. If you don't have 3 other cards in hand/GY for whatever reason the loop can be performed for 2UR by casting brainfreeze before cracking Lion's Eye Diamond.
B.) Brainfreeze from Intuition (2U|2W the following turn. 8 other cards in GY/Hand)
On the opponent's end step before your turn, cast Intuition. Find Lion's Eye Diamond, Sevinne's Reclamation, and Underworld Breach. Presumably they give you Sevinne's here.
    • Go to your turn, untap and cast Sevinne's targeting Underworld Breach.
    • Escape LED exiling 3 cards that aren't Intuition.
    • Crack LED for UUU.
    • Escape Intuition exiling 3 cards that aren't LED, find Brainfreeze and any free cards that you can put into your GY (lotus petal/gitaxian probe).
    • Get whatever card they gave you into the GY.
    • Escape LED exiling 3 cards that aren't Brainfreeze.
    • Crack LED for UUU.
    • Escape Brainfreeze exiling 3 cards that aren't LED.

Updates Add

The last time update was done on June 14th, 3 weeks after the banning of Flash. Since then I have had more time to fine tune the list, test several cards such as Teferi and also, WE FINALLY HAVE A 3RD WINCON! For more in depth discussion on that topic, you can check out the cEDH Cast podcast on this exact build! Video setion of this primer has been updated. I know I already posted this on reddit and facebook, but showing some of my Tapped Out people some love here!

BRAND NEW ELSHA SERVER: https://discord.gg/MaqnYmU

IN: Azorious Signet - Now we are just going full proactive. Our 2 cmc rocks are very important.

Bloodstained Mire - With us no longer main decking Blood Moon, coupled with it being weaker in this current format. It benefits you having more shuffle effects.

Copy Artifact - Its Floor is a 2 cmc rock, it's ceiling is a game winning combo.

Dramatic Reversal - This card just got better with the addition of more rocks, breach and scepter.

Isochron Scepter - Back then we didn't have the cards to utilize Iso to it's full potential, now we do.

Izzet Signet - Increasing the rock density of the list for more consistent mana.

Miscast - Great against Ad Naus and low on curve.

Phantasmal Image - Who doesn't want another Dockside?

Rite of Flame - Increases the consistency of our early game and even can be a T1 Dockside.

Spire of Industry - with 21 artifacts, we heavily benefit from it.

Snap - Dockside makes this good card a great one.

Talisman of Conviction - This rock is better than Azorious Signet due to it being faster, but run both anyway.

Training Center - This is just an auto include.

Unsubstantiate - One of the best ways to stop Ad Naus now and great utility outside of that as well.

Wooded Foothills - Same reason as Bloodstained Mire.

Out: Angel's Grace - No longer need this card due to changes in the format.

Baral, Chief of Compliance - Was okay, but turns out, he wasn't as good now with a Flash'less format.

Blood Moon - Has become significantly weaker in the recent format.

Cephalid Coliseum - Not as good with no Oracle in the list. Yes it fuels breach, but it also makes us go mana negative.

Counterspell - That double U devotion is rough, so miscast took its place.

Frantic Search - I love this card. But I ultimately decided that loots isn't where we want to be.

Grapeshot - We no longer need it in our deck. I will miss this fine card.

Island - With no Whir, it's no longer required!

Narset, Parter of Veils - We are no longer a midrange deck, we are full on proactive.

Not Forgotten - Not needed due to no longer running twister loops.

Maybe: Cyclonic Rift - By no means is this card terrible, but we are fully proactive now.

Mana Drain - If you rather this over Spell Pierce, go for it.

Plains - Training Center replaced it.

Prismatic Vista - No need for it with 2 basics in this list.

Winds of Change - If you do not have timetwister you can run this card and be fine.
