Cauldron Reanimator

Modern GWUB

Snowmen1

Sideboard

This is a concept I have thought up a while ago. With the cycle of legendary artifacts from throne of eldrane, I have been thinking of this idea for a while. The whole idea of the deck is to go turn 1: Hedron Crab, turn two play a fetch land and mill yourself for 6 from landfall triggers. At this point the hope is that you mill at least 5 creatures, because then you can play your The Cauldron of Eternity, and as many Metalwork Colossus as you can. notably, you can also return mMetalwork Colossus from your graveyard to your hand. ideally, this could put you on track to attack for up to 40 by turn 3. The deck also can reanimate creatures using The Cauldron of Eternity, and you can also cast big creatures off of Shelldock Isle if graveyard hate come about. Emry, Lurker of the Loch is also very good for casting you cauldron, metalwork colossus, and milling you, but its hard to get the cost down to a reasonable amount when the deck needs a maximum amount of creatures to make milling off of cauldron significant.

Street Wraith allows you to be consistent with getting the cost of a cauldron down and thinning your deck. you can theoretically get your cauldron cost down to just 4 by cycling 4 of these in a row.

Because of cycling cards like street wraith, there may be a reason to play a cycling sub-theme, or at least high value reanimation targets that contribute the the mill plan such as Striped Riverwinder, though they will make the deck slower.

another card I decided to put in the deck, Witch's Oven, is there because you can use it to buy time with food, which you can also use to buy back a milled over metalwork colossus. Another reason I included this card is because you can use it a a sac outlet- you can sacrifice your own Stitcher's Supplier, providing death triggers and converting creatures on the field that you may no longer need into creatures that can reduce the cost for a cauldron. this would also allow you to stick a turn 2 emry, which isnt the strongest play, but still very good for furthering the plan. you can also protect your colossi from Path to Exile using this card.

Another approach I was thinking of is including dredge cards, but that's a rabbit hole that seems like it would be unfruitful and inconsistent with what this deck is trying to do (since actually having draw steps is nice for finding pieces and such)

This deck sounds really good on paper, and I think it has potential given the busted draws it can have, but I don't know where to take it. If there are good artifact creatures to make emry more reliable, that may just be the glue that puts this deck closer to working well, but I cant find anything like this that will match the gameplan. if you have any suggestions, let me know. I feel like this deck just needs a little something else to be good.

As a note, sideboard is also a maybe board of sorts. alternate plans and anti hate cards seem like a must. flipping good cards off of Shelldock Isle really isn't enough.
