Sideboard

Maybeboard

This is a budget version of Junk/ Abzan Midrange. This deck try's to control the opponent by using cards like Inquizition-of-Kozelik to control the opponents hand and cards like Abrupt Decay and Path to Exile to control things on the board and eventually win by having strictly better creatures than our opponents.

Siege Rhino: This creature is problably the best abzan card ever printed for 4 mana you get a 4/5 who has a trample and also drains our opponent for 3.

Courser of Kruphix: In my version of Junk I use some pain lands to help the mana base and this card helps us gain some life to offset the life loss and it also helps us get some card advantage by playing lands directly from our library.

scavanging-ooze: What I said about Courser can also be said about the Ooze when talking about the life gain from its ability. Also the graveyard hate can help against some decks and the ability to get larger helps us win in the mid game.

Pack Rat: Not gonna lie This is one of my favorite cards around. On an empty board pack rat can easily close out the game and it makes blocking a nightmare for our opponent. Also it helps us put our dead draws to use.

Thragtusk: Thragtusk is a very good value card. The lifegain from it can help us stabilize against burn and the left over token can help us against boardwipes like Damnation.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang: is a good card because we can cast it early using delve and also it dodges a lot of removal in the format such as Lightning Bolt Abrupt Decay and Fatal Push.

Inquisiton-of-Kozilek: since this is a budget deck we can't run Thoughtseize so this is the second best. Most cards seeing play in modern have a CMC of 3 or less and we will always have something to take early in the game.

Path to Exile: I don't think this card needs any explaining but it does have the benefit of being able to search up a land for us if we are missing a color and we can exile a Lingering Souls token or something else that doesn't really matter.

Abrupt Decay: Since it is reasonably cheap I'm fine with running it and also it is just more removal to help us keep the board clean and can destroy some artifacts and other things.

Dromoka's Command I like The command because it does a lot of things against a lot of decks. The ability to prevent spell damage works well against burn, the sac an enchantment ability helps against rogue decks, the fight ability acts as extra removal and giving a +1+1 counter to one of our creatures is always a good choice for the second selection.

Lingering Souls: this is a very grindy spell. The ability to make flying creatures allows us to chip in for extra damage and the ability to play the second half after a board wipe helps us recover.

Putrefy Just some extra removal because you can never have enough.

Phyrexian Arena: other than courser this is our only other example of real card advantage. Also this deck has so much lifegain that the 1 damage a turn shouldn't hurt that much.

Lands

Canopy Vista: This card may look weird in this deck due to the fact that we don't have too many basic lands but I included it because we can fetch it up with Windswept Heath at the end of our opponents turn and have untap immediately.

Windswept Heath: This is simply the most budget fetch land in our colors.

Stirring Wildwood I included this because our deck has a really bad time recovering from board wipes and almost every deck runs some number of them in the sideboard so I included this Shambling-Vents and Hissing Quagmire as well to help us swing in for damage through removal and board wipes. Also all three of these are very good blockers, Wildwood can block fliers, Vents has lifelink, and Quagmire has deathtouch.

I also included 1 ofs for both Temple Garden and Overgrown Tomb because it allows us to fetch up all our colors with our fetch land and have them come into play untapped. The reasons there's only one of each is simply because they are expensive.

Caves of Koilos and Llanowar Wastes are also in the deck because they come into play untapped, are budget, and also the life loss is easily offset in this deck.

Sideboard

Bontu's-Last-Reconing: This is simply cheaper than Damnation and helps against matches like Affinity, Burn, and Zoo which hope to kill is very fast with efficient creatures. The upside of it only being three mana is because we can play it before we play our 5 Drops to clear out the way and the downside of not un tapping our lands is just something we have to deal with.

Golgari Charm: This helps in a few matchups. It helps destroy cards like Ghostly Prison which we have a hard time against and it also helps us against opposing Lingering Souls tokens and also against board wipes.

Selesnya Charm: this is to take care of larger threats such as Tarmagoyf and can also be used to create a creature of drawn later in the game of can help us push in the last damage using the +2+2 and trample mode.

Choke : Persobally I really hate true control decks and almost all true control decks have blue in them and this also just hoses some decks such as merfolk, mono blue tron, and also mono blue fairies.

Lost Legacy: Since we can't afford to put Surgical Extraction in the deck this is in my opinion the best second choice. While it doesn't allow us to get rid of non-basic lands I still feel it is important to have some sort of catch all spell that can remove any problem card before it hits the field minus artifacts.

Now in the last 4 slots I will run some combination of Evil-Pressence and Contaminated Ground. Personally both cards are good but I feel they shine in different match ups. I feel Presence is better against tron because we can play it was early and never give them a chance to get turn three tron while I feel Ground is better against decks like grixis control and bant eldrazi because it helps mess up their mana base while also forcing them to deal damage to themselves because those decks need all the mana they can get. In the end it's up to you and depending on your local meta you can find the perfect balance. Plus both are like 10 cents to just buy 4 of each and see which you prefer.
